    1. I have a number of cap eagles in my collection but nothing like this Can you give us the exact dimensions? It is quite pathetic that "war prizes" were collected by Allied soldiers and now the Germans who produced the "prizes" are unable to identify them! No wonder there are so many fakes. It is quite humorous, don't you think?
    2. Gentlemen, I am deeply sorry to have offended you and I meant no disrespect to the Stogie man. I apologize for the implication in my question to him. I ask that I be deleted as an active member of the forum. This is not the place for me. I wish you all the best.
    3. Wow, I should have sent a private message! Please let me explain. A few years ago, 2005 I think, I decided to duplicate my father's German ribbon bar which was lost after the war. Someone suggested that I look on ebay to see if I could find something similar if not the same - since father had two Heer long service eagles, I could not find such a bar. I did find a seller on ebay who offered to sell me some 15 mm ribbons and two bare brackets so I could make my own. I believe that this was Stogie man and simply wanted to confirm. I recall that the fellow who sold me the stuff was from New Engand. Since he sold ribbons and bare brackets, I assumed that he also assembled the bars. If so, I wanted to ask him if he had any currtent sources. He had sold all of his ribbons and brackets to a fellow in Engand and I wondered if he had found any more. I made no accusation. I simply asked a question. For all of you chaps who have gone ballistic on me, I believe that you protest too much.
    4. Hey Stogie man, Didn't you assemble and sell German ribbon bars on eBay a few years ago? I think I remember some of your stuff.
    5. A picture proves only the picture. Anyone can "field strip" a genuine ribbon bar, reassemble and take a picture. What does that prove? Reasoning is all we have to go on since the guy who "made" the bar is either dead or hiding.
    6. I think the LW eagles are too small. They look like buttonhole-ribbon eagles, not ribbon bar eagles. Maybe the tailor ran out. Maybe not. The real key: the Ehrenkreuz is in the wrong place. This is a medal one had to apply for, like the American "Cold War" medal, not a medal which was awarded. It doesn't belong ahead of "real" medals! No soldier or tailor would put it there, only a fellow making up a bar with "real" parts!
    7. 1914 EK II w/ Spange Hanseatische Kreuz (WW I) Braunschweig Kriegsverdienstkreuz (WW I) Ehrenkreuz Schlesischer Adlerorden Treudienst Treudienst Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. Mar. 1938 Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Okt. 1938 / Spange "Prager Burg" Croatia - Iron Trefoil That's my best-guess
    8. Can anyone ID Axmann's ribbon bar after the Olympia ribbon? What are these two foreign awards?
    9. It looks like many collectors buy and sell the same "stuff." I wonder how much of that "stuff" is genuine? I am not talking about eBay. It sounds like the collectors group is a bit of a family. Is this good or bad?
    10. It is a common story. My mother buried my father's items (while he was at the front) in Eastern Germany when it was determined that the Russians - Communists - would take over. I guess the Reds were slimeballs on all fronts! Arnim
    11. Where can one find ribbon bars from the pre-1945 period - or the ribbons themselves? Arnim
    12. This is the medal I have in my "war room" - the silver version. Our problem is that we don't know who received it! My wife's maternal grandmother was born in Spain and raised in Mexico. It is my belief that this medal was awarded to her father. Unfortunately, there are no documents. How many of these were awarded? Not that we would part with the medal (I would insure it) - what is the silver version "worth." Arnim
    13. My wife's (Mexican) family had a medal which is now in my "war room." It dates from 1867 and commemorates the war against French intervention in Mexico. Can anyone help me identify this beautiful medal whch is on a red and whote neck ribbon with a silver eagle. Many thanks, Arnim
    14. It is my understanding that Felix Steiner earned three Finland awards. Was one of these the Order of the White Rose?
    15. MY PERSONAL THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP. STEINER DIED IN 1966, NO FAMILY TO BE WITH HIM, NOBODY TO CARE ABOUT HIM. HE WAS A GOOD SOLDIER AND A GOOD MAN. TO HONOR THIS MAN BY ESTABLISHING HIS AWARDS IS ONLY PROPER. SO MANY MEN OF THE NAZI ERA WERE "AWARDED" MEDALS AND BADGES WHO EARNED NOTHING! THIS MAN DESERVES OUR RESPECT. HE LOVED HIS COUNTRY AND HE LOVED HIS MEN. WHO COULD EXPECT MORE? ARNIM
    16. It is my understanding that SS Obergruppenfuehrer Felix Steiner earned this medal in 1942. Does anyone know whether he was also awarded the Order of the White Rose - knight? Cheers, Arnim
    17. It is my understanding that German soldiers assisted Finland, then a part of the Russian Empire, to break away in 1918. These liberty medals were established after Finland gained its independence. The Stahlhelm chap would have earned his medal in 1918, not after 1939.
    18. I beleve it to be a fake because the ribbons are too clean and even the back looks like it was made yesterday. The order of the ribbons is right out of the Firma A.D.L.ribbon ribbon chart!
