    1. Here is one of the pieces of information Ostprussenmann provided on Nesselhauf. It is his complete list of awards. There is more writing after his dates of rank (ending with Major a.D in 1920). Can anyone tell me what this menas? Maybe an address? kaufmann i. Berlin=Johannisthal, Gross=Berliner, Damm 98 Best wishes Matt
    2. Congratulations on obtaining a very nice and unusual medal bar! I too think that the missing medal would be the 40 Year Faithful Service Decoration. What is the third medal? Best wishes Matt
    3. And a key piece of information you did provide on Nesselhauf at the beginning of the War! Thank you again. Best wishes Matt
    4. Some excellent presents Christophe...far better than a pair of socks or a funny tie! Bon anniversaire! Matt
    5. Detlef, A very nice medal bar indeed. My congratulations to you on winning this one. Best wishes Matt
    6. Here is my best 2010 purchase. The medal grouping of Major Richard Nesselhauf (Identified by Daniel Krause ) Nesselhauf was Hauptmann in Prussian IR 18, and Adjutant of the Prussian Training Mission for the Polish Army. Best wishes Matt
    7. The ribbons I see are: -Iron Cross -Hohenzollern House Order -Saxon Albert Order??? -Hamburg Hanseatic Cross??? -Bremen Hanseatic Cross -Lubeck Hanseatic Cross -Honour Cross 1914-1918 -??? -??? -???
    8. Gentlemen, I came across this Kriegsmarine portrait on the Internet. Any idea who he is? He has quite a long ribbon bar (10 place) but no Wehrmacht long service awards. Best wishes, Matt
    9. Claudio, What a fantastic grouping. It is great that you have all of the items together. Best wishes Matt
    10. Mario, I am not sure what that medal is but I see it is sewn on to the ribbon and not behind the ribbon like the other medal. I think a Zahringer Lion Order should have been on this medal bar. Best wishes Matt
    11. Christophe, What a truely stunning and impressive collection! Best wishes Matt
    12. Thank you chaps for your kind comments! @Deruelle- Thank you for the award numbers Christophe! I hope you like the Albert Order pictured! @Daniel Krausse- A special thank you to Daniel for putting a name to this grouping. The research you and others do is invaluable. Is there any way to find out Major Nesselhauf's date of death? Best wishes, Matt
    13. Gentlemen, I would like to show you a little Imperial grouping I have recently acquired. Given the precedence in which the medals are mounted I would deduce that this was the medal bar of a Prussian Officer. As there is a Saxon Albert Order 1st Class and Baden Zahringer Lion 2nd Class with Oakleaves I would say this was the medal grouping of an Officer with at least the rank of Hauptmann by the end of the Great War. With a 25 Year Service Cross and no Centenary medals I would think the owner entered service some time in the early 1900s. We can see that this Officer was still living in 1934/35 to receive the Honour Cross and had his ribbon bar mounted in the correct order of that era. He did not have his medal bar remounted. The Honour Cross he was given is pinned to the reverse. The Albert Order is marked 'R' on the rim of the 6'o'clock arm and the Honour Cross is marked 'R.S.L.'. I hope my analysis is accurate but please feel free to amend any of the above. Best wishes, Matt
    14. Brian, What a wonderful story and a great looking EK2. There is nothing quite like a gift where some thought has been put in. Best wishes Matt
    15. Gentlemen, I have seen this type of ribbon bar being sold on eBay by member "gerst". Beware, he is also making reproductions of named ribbon bars. Best wishes Matt
    16. Rudi, What an impressive collection! The 10 place medal bar is really something! Best wishes Matt
