    1. Now that is something else!! No wonder you were disappointed Claudio! Detlef that medal bar is also spectacular and very uncommon with the non-com EK2. Best wishes Matt
    2. A great little group Beau especially with the marked Godet lapel bow. I had seen these on eBay and was tempted to bid. Best wishes Matt
    3. The 1st Class one would appear to be made from zinc. It could be a good one, but i see the catch is missing. Best wishes Matt
    4. Hi Christer, I would say No.5 is the Bulgarian Bravery Order. If so the ribbon after it should be another foreign award, maybe Finnsh? Best wishes Matt
    5. Many thanks for clearing this up Naxos! And well done to you and Vince for naming out the fake miniature. As Brian says, another thing to watch for. Best wishes Matt
    6. Gentlemen, I have seen a few of these on eBay of late and wondered if they are actual official period awards (at the time the Silesian Eagle was made an official award)? I personally have never seen this type before. I have seen many varients of the Silesian Eagle first and second class but never a medallion like this. The examples I have seen seem to be well made and do look period. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thank you Matt
    7. Very nice Timo. I have a similar one but on a medal bar. Unfortunately my camera is not functioning properly so the photos are rather poor. Best wishes Matt
    8. Hello, Please see Tom Yanacek's book "Parade Medal Bars of the Third Reich"; "Medal Bar Mounting Plates and Backing Materials" (Page 12):- "Steel plates will usually have some type of finish on them. The most commom finish was bright nickle-silver plating. This type of finish is very durable and it remains shiney (almost mirror-like) over the years" So based on this information and my own opinion of your medal bar I would say it is ok. Nice find. Are you hoping to restore it? Best wishes Matt
    9. Christophe, My apologies for mixing up Jäger with Reserve. Thank you for disclosing their ranks. Best wishes and many thanks Matt
    10. :speechless1: In the space of 30 minutes Christophe has been able to find 2 Officers with this combination. Thank you Christophe for for being able to confirm that the ribbon is for Reuss and that I have another ribbon bar of an Officer in Jäger Bataillon Nr. 13. Is there any way of confirming which of these Officers owned this ribbon bar and their rank? - Paul Hederich? - Georg GrafVitzthum v.Eckstädt? Best wishes Matt
    11. Gentlemen, Here is another ribbon bar I had to add to the collection. It is similar to the ribbon bar I posted here that was tracked by Christophe to an Officer in Jäger Bataillon Nr. 13. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42390&st=0&p=392265&hl=Reuss&fromsearch=1&#entry392265 But after reading over that thread again I am again unsure if the yellow ribbon is for Reuss or Waldeck on this ribbon bar. This time there are no swords on the yellow ribbon so is this a Waldeck Honor Cross without swords? -Iron Cross -War Merit Cross 1939 -Saxon St. Henry Order -Saxon Merit Order (gold swords) -Saxon Albert Order (gold swords) -Waldeck/Reuss Honor Cross? -Honor Cross 1914-18 As always chaps, my thanks. Best wishes Matt
    12. Bokken, I am afraid I do not have a picture of this medal. Perhaps if you do a seach on the internet. Going on the information in my book I don't think this is a veterans award but a standard award from the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg. Best of luck with the seach for the medal. If you find one please post it here. Best wishes Matt
    13. Hi Bokken, Welcome to the forum! According to my ribbon book (Medal Ribbons & Orders by DG Neville) it is the Oldenburg War Cross of Merit established in 1902. It can be found on page 54. Apologies for bad photos. Best wishes Matt
    14. I don't see anything from the Hansa States... but none-the -less a truley fantastic collection. You should be extremely proud. Best wishes Matt
    15. Hello Brian This looks like a nice original badge with that "been there" look/feel. Congratulations on getting this "hole in one"! (Sorry, that's the best pun I can think of right now) Matt
    16. I would wonder at the hook also but I did notice that the hinge on the reverse is on the wrong side- they are usually on the other side of the bar i.e. behind the first ribbon. The hinge on this bar is behind the last ribbon...if that makes sense. Just an observation. Best wishes Matt
    17. Doug, Jamie Cross has this GPB no. listed on his site. He should be able to put a name to the number! www.thirdreichmedals.com Best wishes Matt
    18. Have not been as frequent here as I used to be due to illness but hope to be back as a full-timer now!
