    1. Hi Gordon, Wow... you do find the neatest stuff! I've NEVER seen one of these. Plenty of the side (Garrison) caps but no peaked caps at all. Fabulous piece!!!! What does the full uniform look like that goes with this? Thanks so much for sharing this. Dan
    2. Hi all, Okay... I'm still flying in the dark. Is mine good, bad or "unsure"? Just totally confused on all this as it seems to go in all different directions. Dan
    3. Hi all, No thoughts/opinions? I'm flying nearly blind on this one. Thanks! Dan
    4. Hi Sergey, Many thanks!!!! Deeply appreciate. Trust me, I will definitely want one at some point and the help will be most appreciated. Love your banner by the way... very nice laurel beneath the portrait on that one... very tasteful design. Not at all cluttered... just right. I wondered if you might be able to tell me anything more about the flags in my posts # 13, 18 and 24? Would love a translation of the one in #13 if possible. Be happy to do better pics if needed. Also if you have any additional info on my finials and especially if you might know of which factories made these and perhaps know if there's a list with their makers marks on them in order to tell what was made where? Many thanks!!!! Danilo Danilovich Never got fancy and used the Russian version of my name before.
    5. Not to mention the damaged enamel! A shame as they're beautiful Orders. Ahhhh the ravages of time! Dan
    6. Hi Terry, So does this indicate it's bad? I'm not up on all the theories and controversies surrounding this one. Got it twenty some odd years ago, stuck it with the other two cased medals in the set and there it's sat over the years. I don't have alot in it as I recall so no major disaster if it's bad... just want to be sure for my own piece of mind. And so I can put in a note stating if it's bad so others will know when my time comes to move on. Thanks! Dan
    7. Ya know... if Putin ever tunes in here and sees this... might give him some ideas. But in all seriousness, based on pictures and documentaries I've seen, the Soviet sure could build em' big! The monuments they did a tremendous! Dan
    8. Label inside inner pocket: Jackets Field Wool O.D. Stock No. 55-J-384-550 34R Joseph H. Cohen & Sons Vanity Clothes, Inc. Cont.W-36-030-qm-6858 Dated June 28, 1944 Pattern Dated 5/10/44 Spec. P.O.D. No. 437 Phila. Q.M. Depot The tunic seems to be in great shape. Far as I know the ribbons hadn't even been off in ages till tonight when I took them off to scan them. I put them back in the same holes. The tunic is just how I originally purchased it and seems to be the way it's always been. Dan

    12. Hi all, Decided to dig this one out and post it. Hope it's of some interest. Full tunic: Right sleeve: Left sleeve: Lower left sleeve:
    13. Hi all, This seems the place to post this. Just found it in our local thrift store yesterday. I'm assuming it's French for the Croix de Guerre but I'm far from an expert so figured I'd pop it here for some opinions on what it is and just out of sheer curiosity any worth it might have. It's in super condition and looks very complete. And now without further ado... the pics: Thanks! Dan
    14. Hi Sergey, I deeply appreciate the offer... but at least for a while that's a bit rich for my budget. Hopefully I'll be able to manage it in a few months but for now I'm pretty much tapped out. Just didn't want to see you get one and put out the money till I could reimburse. Again many thanks for the offer. I'll let you know when I'm more able to afford one. Thanks! Dan
    15. Hi all, Again thanks to Vic (Order of Victory) I have some more new additions to my Bulgarian collection... all three classes of the Order of Mothers Glory: Now all I need are the Medals For Maternity 1st and 2nd class and the Bulgarian Order of Mother Heroine... that last being way down the road if at all due to rarety and price. Dan
    16. Hi Gordon, Quite understand. Will stay in a holding pattern on these... and actually no rush as I'm getting low on funds right now anyhow. But want to be prepared once I have my war chest built back up again. Many thanks, Dan
    17. Hi Gordon, Outstanding! So I take it this is the type of case I just got with mine? Sure if a beaut!!!! Can't wait till it gets here! That's the hardest part of buying online or through the mail... the nearly endless waiting. But when they arrive I'm like a kid on Christmas morning... even though I know what's in the box before I open it. Seeing in person is always a much better experience than just seeing pics online. Can't wait till you pop up a separate thread on these as just the ones you've posted here have been fascinating. More than I've been able to find on this Order since I first saw it years ago. Many thanks! Dan
    18. Hi all, Well, just managed to work out another one... the Medaille f?r ausgezeichnete Leistungen in der bewaffneten Organen des Ministeriums des Innern: I'm hoping this and the last group of three I posted (all from same seller) will be here by the middle to the end of the week (knock on wood!). So other than the last really high and expensive ones I've pretty much finished the set. Dan
    19. Hi Gordon, Again many thanks for all this great info. You should write a book my friend! Goodness knows we desperately need some in English. Real quick... on the KVP's... roughly what would I be looking at with one of those? And how hard to find cased... and how much more for that would you think? Also about how much do you think I should be looking at for the one I need for my early Urkunde? Cased and/or uncased? Thanks! Dan
    20. Hi Gordon, Outstanding set! Out of curiosity, were all the KVP's serial numbered? And are they difficult to come by? I'm coming up where I'm going to be hunting one down and didn't know if it was going to be a rare piece like I'm assuming these are: Ehrentitel "Verdienter Mitarbeiter der Staatssicherheit" (conferred to Stasi members) Ehrentitel "Verdienter Volkspolizist" And not positive I'd need the Stasi one for a "police set". I've always kind of considered them separate from the regular police. Only other one I'm hunting for right now is the Medaille f?r ausgezeichnete Leistungen in der bewaffneten Organen des Ministeriums des Innern. I may have a line on one but not sure yet. Well, that and the one I need for my Urkunde. Thanks, Dan
    21. Hi Sergey, Beautiful flag!!!! Love it! I eventually want one in that type of material... velvet I'm guessing? Just fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing it. Dan
    22. Hi all, Well, more new additions to my Police set... Verdienstmedaille der Organe des Ministeriums des Innern in gold, silver and bronze: Obverse: Reverse: So now I only need three more to finish the set. Dan
    23. Hi George, Hmmmm, had no idea that was the case. As many of these as I've seen in books and such I don't know why it didn't hit me. Will definitely (and carefully) give that a try. Also the $75 I paid was about twenty some odd years ago. But very glad to hear it has gone up. I'll have to pass that along to Kim as this is her pride and joy! Many thanks for the info! Dan
    24. Hi Charles, Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Got pulled way visiting with some friends from Bowdon and only now getting back to finishing up replies and such. Really love the tunic. Great piece and with the ribbon bar too! A nice extra bonus. Hope it airs out okay for you. Dan
    25. Hi Grant, Gave you a bit of incorrect info on these. I'd seen where they were for NCO and officer... but Gordon just popped onto my thread on my police collection and gave the correct info... so wanted to share it with you. Here's the link: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1596...t=0&start=0 Post #15 subject 2. Hope this helps! Dan
