    1. Just picked these up and thought I'd pop them up here in case anyone might know a bit more about them. They appear well made and are rather detailed. Anyhow I'll let the pictures say the rest.
    2. Saw this a few days ago and this is the first chance I've had to post it. It's on Ebay (wonder of wonders!). No bids so relisted. Starting bid... GBP 74.99 / $108.43 U.S. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2010/post-873-127527064492.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2010/post-873-127527066227.jpg Here's the description: ORIGINAL GERMAN 1957 VERSION OAKLEAVES, SWORDS AND DIAMONDS FROM STEINHAUER & LUCK, LUDENSCHEID. JUST GOT FROM A GERMAN DEALER 100% ORIGINAL, SIDE OF LOOP HAS A MARK BUT CAN'T READ IT THIS HAS 2 DIAMONDS SET IN IT, THE LEFT DIAMOND HAS ONLY 3 PRONGS OF THE ORIGINAL 4 LEFT OTHERWISWE IN MINT CONDITION. I'M NOT SURE IF THE DIAMONDS ARE REAL BUT THEY DO SCRATCH GLASS SO I ASSUME THEY ARE. I don't even bother to scratch my head and wonder anymore. Dan
    3. Sadly it doesn't have it's original screwback nut. Although this may have been done by the vet after losing the original... we'll never know. But for what I got it for I'm not complaining. Besides, I think it adds character. Dan
    4. I've finally managed to get ahold of a WW2 Guards badge. Wanted one for years.
    5. Hello and welcome to the forum. First off here's the photo: It's the Soviet Veteran of Labor medal. This from The Soviet Military Awards Page: http://soviet-awards.com/ which is an extremely useful site for Soviet awards: Established 18 January 1974. Awarded to all workers of retirement age for their many years of labor in the Soviet economy, culture, science, medicine, and education. This medal could also be given to military personnel who had reached retirement age. It is made of a Zinc and Copper alloy. Approximately 36,000,000 were issued. http://soviet-awards.com/medals22.htm#medal42 These are quite common and can generally be picked up for just a few dollars. Hope this helps. Dan
    6. Hi all, Here's a couple of stickpins I just managed to acquire. Way back in the days before the fall of the wall when such things were few and far between I got a large grouping of mostly TR pieces. In it was a single stickpin like the first one below. I was stupid and let it go. Been wanting another one ever since I got into Soviet collecting. It's taken me a ton of years but without further ado here they are: 1950's 3/4 inch: Pre 1970's 1/2 inch: If any of you happen to have similar examples say from different time periods I'd love to see them. Dan
    7. Bill... THANK YOU SO MUCH for that link!!!! I've been looking for that for years now! I'd seen it way back (or at least one I think was the same) and then lost it between computers and try and I might I could never find it again. I've wanted cases for my Olympic medal and decorations plus a few other pieces and haven't been able to find them anywhere else. This is PERFECT! Again thank you so much... you're a life saver!!!! Dan
    8. Well, now I have four. Just won this one in a contest (many thanks Chris! ) and wanted to post it with my others. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2010/post-873-127440617173.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2010/post-873-127440620238.jpg Dan
    9. Another new addition... gift from a friend. A cased 107 Carl Wild (Hamburg) from the Edward V. Golaski collection:
    10. No problem! Sorry I couldn't do more. Let me try and see if some of the others can comment and give more info. Dan
    11. Thank you Sergey. Hoping some more folks will add any they might have over time. I'd actually love to add an Imperial example both of the rifle and the revolver at some point. I know where one of the rifles is for a decent price... just have to wait till I can afford it. Plus I still need to obtain a cleaning rod for my revolver set... along with some ammo at some point as I've never fired it and would love to sometime. Dan
    12. Afraid I'll have to leave this one to one of my more learned fellow members then as without a mark I'm generally not able to work out a maker. But I'm sure just by the look of it that someone might be able to figure it out. Good luck! Dan
    13. Is there a makers mark of any kind on the ring? It's generally stamped on there. If so a good closeup scan of that would help. Also is the core magnetic? Dan
    14. A few more shots: Manufacturer MCC. Made in 1951.
    15. My next door neighbor held a garage/moving sale today (she's moved to the retirement apartments two blocks over) and amongst other things (non-militaria) I picked this up for $1. Couldn't pass it up. Have always wanted one and at that price I figured what they hey. Here's some info on the history of these cans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerrycan Some info on markings: http://www.olive-dra...an_markings.php
    16. Our members are the GREATEST!

    17. Well, got motived to look through a stamp collection my father gave me before he passed away. It's a whole briefcase full that he got at some point along the way. Was hoping perhaps there were some of these type stamps in there. Sadly just more of the Hitler heads, a feldpost one with eagle/swaz, and a few with a bigger swaz. Just have to start keeping my eyes out and about to see if I can locate some of the type you have. Lots of action on those. Good news is I did find a ton of full and partial sets of Soviet stamp series so was quite happy about that! Dan
    18. You're very welcome! Happy I could help out on this one. Dan
    19. Sure looks like this Japanese body armor to me: Dan
