Ed_Haynes Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 An odd one. A first variety border guard badge (B #E01). But unnumbered. An exotic curiosity.(And an ugly scan, sorry.)
Riley1965 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Another Mongolian Badge from my collection...E 04 in Dr. Battushig's book The Best Border Guard Badge sn B-1290 Doc
Ed_Haynes Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 Nice one, Doc.If you haven't, you may want to spend some time looking at the main thread on these http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10173 although I think a lot of rethinking on the proposed typology is in order. I'm trying to sort this out with Battushig.

Riley1965 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I have a question regarding the script on the badges. Is it a Mongolian form of cyrillic or Russian Cyrillic? Doc
Ed_Haynes Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 (edited) It is Mongolian, written in Cyrilic script. A couple of extra letters are added from what is present in Russian to deal with Mongolian sounds. Much as Latin, English, German, French, or Polish are all written in the same "Roman" script, sort of. Edited October 28, 2008 by Ed_Haynes

Tsend Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Badge of the 80 Years to Mongolian Border Troops. Personally I liked this badge. The quality is much better than the 70 and 60 Years badges.
Vatjan Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Congratulations on this beautiful badge! Best regards, Jan
