    Hi Doc,

Nice RSR version of the The Order of Labor. The Order of Labor (aka: Order of Work), was established on 29th April 1948, and was awarded to civilians and foreigners who in their work rendered special service to the Romanian people in the areas of production, science, culture, literature, art, education, and health care. This award was similar to the Soviet Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

    hunyadi,

That's what I like about them. I have looked at that beautiful 3-piece construction and details many times and love it even more :love::love:

Yes, they are lovely. The two varieties:

1- Order of Labor, 3rd class, 1948-65 variety, "RPR" / Ordinul Muncii, 3rd class, 1948-65 variety, "RPR"

2- Order of Labor, 3rd class, 1965-89 variety, "RSR" / Odinul Muncii, 3rd class, 1965-89 variety, "RSR"

    3rd class only, so far . . . :banger:

    Ed,

Those are nice  I like the fact that you have both the RPR & RSR versions of the medal and the Order!!

It seems that there are several types of cases for this order. Here is an image of a red case with right angle corners (as opposed to the light brown cases above with rounded corners).

This just came in today. It is remarkably HEAVY, being made out of three layers

    1) rayed back piece which has the red enamelled ribands

    2) sunburst

    3) hammer and sickle with laurel leaves and pre-1966 national abbreviation "RPR."

The heavy, jewelry style locking catch pin is a surprise-- especially compared with the loose dangling straight "jab" pins on Cuban awards.

What do the 2nd and 1st Class "RPR" Labour Orders look like?

That is a beautiful series of awards. I think that the classes look the same, with a different colored enamel in the center.

    Hallo Rick,

nice 3rd Class, :jumping: basically they all had the same design,

but the 2nd Class had silver Rays with a lemon yellow center,

while first class had Golden Rays, silver corn ears,

and a center with a colour in between Lemon and Orange.

I am sorry to say I dont have a picture handy at the mo,

will try to dig one out as soon as possible.

Yes, these are quite nice, and -- I agree -- surprisingly "robust" in their construction. I have almost the full set, though undocumented :( . Let me dig 'em out and post.
