Bob Hunter Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I really like these early awards. Let's see some more.
Stogieman Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 The Bavarian one is a little harder to find.... there's several others MUCH harder to find than this! The mecklenburg ones are almost impossible!
Bob Hunter Posted June 28, 2005 Author Posted June 28, 2005 and those that are MUCH harder to find would be...?
Tom Y Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 The Bavarian one is a little harder to find.... there's several others MUCH harder to find than this! The mecklenburg ones are almost impossible!Ya mean like this? Another one from Stuttgart.http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2008/post-252-1220131237.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2008/post-252-1220131262.jpg
Tom Y Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 They weren't always worn separately. The left hook is reversed and it's right counterpart missing. Made to go through horizontal lops on the uniform.
Wild Card Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 (edited) Tom Y,That is really unique!Makes you wonder why this was not done more often with those monogramed Landwehr ribbons. Edited September 2, 2008 by Wild Card
westfale Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 (edited) Hi, here an example of the grand dutchy of baden.Hope, you like it, too!regardswestfale Edited October 5, 2008 by westfale
westfale Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 The Bavarian one is a little harder to find.... there's several others MUCH harder to find than this! The mecklenburg ones are almost impossible!Hi!I've got the chance to get one of these bars of mecklenburg, in this case the bar of mecklenburg-schwerin - so here is the picture, additional with a picture of an soldier wearing it.Hope you like it, too!regardswestfale
westfale Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 To hold this treat alive...I would like to show you two bavarian. On the right the LS-Bar for the Landwehr, 2nd class. On the left - not often seen - the "normal" LS-Bar, given for 15 years of service, also bavarian. If anyone could show me his bar, especially the 1st class: you are welcome!regardswestfale
Stogieman Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Well, I'll add in here too. I'm surprised no-one commented on Tom's medal bar. Note the edges of the bar... see that raised lip? I've seen an awful lot of pre-1900 bars... but I have only seen that little feature on Bavarian bars. Here's another example ex-me
Stogieman Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 another from the back, this time straight edges, not sloped:
Ulsterman Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 oh! You know, I never really thought about it. Neat!
Ulsterman Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 (edited) Superb NCOs bar Werner!! (except for #17). Edited March 8, 2009 by Ulsterman
Tom Y Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I think I might have posted these before, but they should fit well here, too.
westfale Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 (edited) To keep this thread alive, I would like to show you my newest piece: Prussia, long service award 3rd class, here with black enamel. I like all these wonderful enamel made versions you get f.e. from prussia- hope, you too, as any comments are welcome!regardswestfaleP.S.: I forgot to ask WNickel for a more detailed picture of his two pieces for comparison - is it possible, Werner?
