Someone is trying to sell this fake badge at one of the Russian forums. The enamel is of low quality (not a hot enamel but cold). Also the details of the sword and sword handle show the difference. The Roman number 10 or X is floppy and the details of the 12 and 22 (in old Mongol numbers) is less pronounced.

The reverse also has multiple problems. The screwpost pole was soldered in a customary way. The numbering is very sloppy. The edges of the badge at 11 and 1 o'clock are too rounded. The original badges have more or less concave reverses while this one has a rather flat reverse. Also the concave imprint of the Soyombo letter somehow missed the stamped imprint. The original badges show exact imprints of the Soyombo reflected on the reverse while on this badge, the front and back imprints miss each other.

    RRR

Unfortunately the asking price is available only "on request"

P.S. I wonder how many of them are "out there" ...

    Already "in reserve"?!

    That was quick! :rock on:

I hope the happy buyer has a copy of "Mongolian orders, medals and badges" by Battushig ...

    ... so he can open p. 85 ;)

Trying to find it - also found the 2.700 USD polar star order on ebay quite funny!

"Only bank transfer no paypal" - yeah right!

On the profile there's a picture of somebody, presumably NOT the seller... http://www.ebay.com/usr/odbamn7

Nothing to worry about, Jan ;)

Typical (terribly looking) modern Labour Banner "made in Mongolia"

Although the number was added (most likely) by some enthusiast

    thanks nick,

Unbelievable that these are what the mongolian government is actually giving out these days.

    Sad.

Next thing they'll make plastic medals like the Vietnamese did.

I've been watching this one too... Brown gold is extra special!!! I haven't looked too closely but I'm almost tempted to say that the silver part with blue enamel might be real and that the "gold" part has been replaced. Over the past 10 years I've seen 3 or 4 silver SB parts for sale so who knows this might be one of those butchered ones...

see post 101 in the SB thread.. Pin back 813 shown butchered.
