cimbineus
Hello Gents, You have shown a lot of different interesting "KIV?L? MUNK??RT" badges throughout this topic. Let me add another type, a rather unique one. Here you can see the same basic badge, the five pointed silver star, but with a different enamelled type "ribbon", which came again later with the early "KIV?L? DOLGOZ?" badges. cimbineus
Hello Gents, You have shown a lot of different interesting types of "MAGYAR ?LMUNK?S" badge throughout this topic. Let me add some really unique ones. Most probably, these badges were presented to the commission for approval in March-April 1948, but not accepted by the Trade Unions' Council for any reasons. ("?MUK" stands for "?LMUNK?S") Here is the first one:Regards, cimbineus

cimbineus
Another beauty!! Another badge to look for too.Do you know when it was instituted? Thanks for showing us. Hello all, My guess is that this badge was instituted in the very early 50s, perhaps before 1953, because in '53 and '54 two series of agricultural "KIV?L?" badges were instituted, end this type never appeared after that, it became obsolete I think. decker
Cimbineus, Your posts - just like the presentation of these images - are fantastic! (As they are on the 'medals' board, as well.) Thanks for all of them!Would you be so kind as to post some of your pieces in connection with jurisdiction? With miniatures... (Sorry, I couldn't stand asking for them...) Ed_Haynes
As I go through, sorting and cataloging my Hungarian items (thanks again, Charles ), I encounter some mysterious problem children. I think they belong here. Maybe they are somewhere, but they elude me. Help! Thanks in advance. 1-

hunyadi
Hi Ed - 1) Excelent Worker in Agriculture2) Excelent (Scrap) Metal Collector - in the 1950's as there was a surplus of foundries, but a massive deficit of raw materials they started a program to award badges to those who were savy enough to go around the countryside and collect scrap metal. It was a geat way to get rid of all those Hitlerite machines of war that were junking up the countryside.3) 1980's era Excelent Youth Profesional (Worker)

hunyadi
What was a "youth professional worker" again? To my understanding these were awarded to members who were in a trade aprentice program or to one working as a journeyman... I also know of one that was awarded to a gal who got a "5" (A+ for those of us in the USA) on her Russian exam while in 9th grade in 1986....so apparently there was some loose interpretation of who and for what they could get one. cimbineus
What was a "youth professional worker" again? Hi Gents, A little help with Hungarian, if I may. "KIVÁLÓ IFJÚ SZAKEMBER" means "EXCELLENT YOUNG SPECIALIST" This was a general badge and was awarded to young people, under 28 years I guess, if they performed well during first years of their work activities in almost all branches of the economy. hunyadi
:banger: Were these boxes official? A production by the state mint? - If so - I passed over two of these at flea markets as I thought they were simply something a worker had made.... :banger:

There were at least a dozen different types of boxes for SZTAHANOVISTA badges and these wooden ones are the rarest, I think. cimbineus Edited October 15, 2009 by cimbineus
