Stogieman Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Fabulous piece Ralph.... not only a very hard to find medal, but an incredibly rare case.... fabulous find!
Claudio Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 (edited) Hi Ralph,That is a beautiful mint piece... very rare in its case.I would like to present my 2 placed Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha medal bar with the above-mentioned medal... that is quite nice, too, isn't it?Ciao,Claudio Edited September 10, 2005 by Claudio
Stogieman Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 This is another interesting and rare piece. Not seen very often. Here's an example of a Saxon with both grades of the CEM.... unidentifiable, but still one of the nicest ribbon bars I've pawed in the last couple of years!Does anybody else have some examples of ribbon bars, medal bars, or cases for this award?
Stogieman Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 When this bar initially appeared, it created quite a stir. Much speculation as to authenticity, but this puppy is right as cool rain on a hot summer's day!
Claudio Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Wow Rick! That is a superb ribbon bar... in mint conditions. The owner must have been some kind of a long service Beamte or Court servant... Just amazing!!!
Stogieman Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I have to root through the archives tonight. I have a Sax-Coburg Gothe case of issue for this medal that is very different from Ralph's. Sold it to a German dealer a few years back.
Deruelle Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 My favourite ribbon bar CM2 with X and date. The other one is nice tooChristophe
Stogieman Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Now you know this question was coming.... right? Why do we have 2 bars with Yellow on the left and one bar with yellow on the right?
Deruelle Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Sorry Rick, I have no answer. Maybe the evil twin has got the right answer It's not the first time I see ribbon bars with CM2X with yellow color on the left. Maybe one era's error.I remember having a photo in my collection of one officer with beautiful ribbon bar. But when I have looked more particulary, I see the swords were mounted on the wrong side. As soon as I have found it I will post it.RegardsChristophe
Stogieman Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Found it! Here's the SCG Case for this medal! The only one of this style I have ever seen!
JensF. Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 (edited) This is what I call QUALITY! Wonderful, no... fantastic details on that medal! Whoever was the die-maker, he was a real master in his job! Edited October 4, 2005 by JensF.
Paul R Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I am new to the world of "Imperial". What was this medal awarded for? How high of a medal is this? Please forgive the silly questions.Best regardsPaul
Bob Hunter Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Christope, Stogie & Cludio! Very nice items, really stunning!
