Ulsterman Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I am seeing a pattern- above 4000# seem to be "cleaner" with unpainted rays and a silvered face.
hunyadi Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Yes - thats what I am noticing as well, hence trying to make a database. Also trying to see if we can find one numbered above 7000? The more I think about it - these things when measured to other 'collectables' in the militaria field are pretty rare with probably no more than 10,000 ever produced.
Ulsterman Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 (edited) Well, I have #s:724,1089,3159,3649,4148,4567,4668,5524,and a blank one...nothing above 7,000 Edited October 29, 2007 by Ulsterman
Ed_Haynes Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 So, Charles . . . are you planning on setting up a breeding facilty? I'd like to adopt one of the litters.
hunyadi Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 So, Charles . . . are you planning on setting up a breeding facilty? I'd like to adopt one of the litters. As Gordon can testify to - when I see one of these lost in the woods of a dealers table, the usualy come home with me. I keep putting them together in the display cabinet or in the storage boxes, but they all seem to be alpha males and unable (or unwilling) to reproduce on their own. But I shall keep trying! JMOSA article is buzzing around my head BTW...Once I can secure more sources and documentation. Anatoly - Did yours come from Russia? Perhaps it was bestowed to a Soviet citizen? That number range would indicate a more 'political' award from the mid to late 1950's?
Ulsterman Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 (edited) JOMSA article? Excellent! There was a brief mention of the Hungarian partisan badges in a JOMSA article on Partisan medals of WW2 @ 25 years ago (or more). #4148: Edited October 29, 2007 by Ulsterman

Gordon Craig Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 (edited) The reverse of #824 Edited November 2, 2007 by Gordon Craig
Gordon Craig Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Four miniatures. The two on your left are #490 and #2809. The later issue two on the right are unnumbered.Regards,Gordon
hunyadi Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 Interesting that besides the mini - no one has yet to produce a badge in the 2000 - 2999 range...
Gordon Craig Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Charles,I hadn't noticed that. They must be out there somewhere as there had to be a mate to my mini. I wonder how many we will find tomorrow?Cheers,Gordon
hunyadi Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Finaly found one in the 2000 range - introducing #2228!
hunyadi Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Not a badge - but almost just as good - the carrying document for # 2448. Unfortunatly they did not publish in the book when it was issued - just that it 'was' issued!
Gordon Craig Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Charles,Great find! Would love to get one of those as would many others I imagine. Nice to know what one looks like.Cheers,Gordon
Gordon Craig Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 No sooner said than done. Here are pictures of my Partizan book picked up at the last militaria show. It is also in the 2000 range. #2767
Gordon Craig Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 The cover. You can see the imprint of the stamp placed over the picture clearly on the back of the book.Regards,Gordon
hunyadi Posted December 5, 2007 Author Posted December 5, 2007 Adding to the lot #6066 (short days make for short times to photograph!). I was also going through my minis and found #2888. Interstingly enough the number for that is also stamped above the pin. By making a rough scientific guess - the 2000 range numbers were stamped above the pin. Perhaps we have another variant?
