Christophe Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 My turn now. #1 To which building construction led this drawing?#2 Where was it build and for which purpose?#3 In which year?Bryan,That's a very nice pic .I'm sure this is not the right answer, but it looks like the Soviet Pavilion for the Universal Exhibition held in Paris in 1937...Ch.
Bryan Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Christophe, you are on the good way. It is indeed a Soviet Pavilion for a Universal Exhibition! But not Paris!
Dudeman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Christophe, you are on the good way. It is indeed a Soviet Pavilion for a Universal Exhibition! But not Paris!VDNKh in Moscow?
Christophe Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 I think Rick is right, as it is the Pavilion of the USSR at the International Exhibition in New-York, in 1939. The Architect in Chief was D.M.Iofan. Ch.
Alfred Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 There is also a nice badge from the International Exhibition in New-York, but I don?t know if this one is a original.
Christophe Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 Here is another one, described as such by the seller :"1939 World's Fair in New York, Soviet badge. Nickel-plated brass, enamel. Made in the USA. The design is the logo for the Soviet Exhibition. Typical Soviet design of the era depicting a young worker in coveralls holding a red star, with unfurled Soviet flag behind him. 37 mm tall. Shows several maker marks to the reverse, apparently of American Origin. Condition is very fine, with a tiny enamel chip to the upper left corner of the flag, and small internal cracks to the bottom right corner. The damage is barely noticeable. The nickel plating is practically intact, and there is very little wear overall. Comes with original screw nut." Nice and interesting badge... made in USA.Ch.Pic : Collectrussia.
Stogieman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Well I had the 193 right. Copuld not remember late last night after a raucus dinner with some friends 1930- What? I've seen a few of the US/Sov badge for the World's fair. My understanding is the badge was of Soviet design, but US manufacture.
Bryan Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Stogieman (Rick) gave the good answer for the place and Christophe the good answer for the year. So the first to come back on the thread can post an other question. Here are 2 period pictures that were for sale few months ago on eBay.
Christophe Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 Thanks Bryan, nice ones!!!As I have already asked a number of questions here, may I suggest Stogieman (who was in fact the first one to give the right answer) ask the next question ? Rick, your turn now!!! Cheers.Ch.

Stogieman Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 OK, since even I don't know the answer.........What is this badge supposed to be and from what country??(Sorry, as a newbie the only real puzzling question I would have is why oh why did I start this?)
Stogieman Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Here's the reverse with a wicked weird screw disc that looks like it was made out of rubbish.
Stogieman Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 And with the cheesy disc off.I have no clue......... Fake of what?
