Ed_Haynes Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Well . . . I was expecting a post . . . fully worthy of the WAF . . . about "fake women" and "fake virgins" . . . can you imagine my disappointment? Edited February 17, 2009 by Ed_Haynes
Naxos Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) fur frauen und jungfrauen "women and young ladies" more or less.In German the title of a woman changes from Fr?ulein to Frau when she is married. In formal Court-German that would be from Jungfrau to Frau. Hence, to make it clear that the award is available to both, married and unmarried women, it was added "f?r Frauen und Jungfrauen" (plural). Edited February 17, 2009 by Naxos
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Well . . . I was expecting a post . . . fully worthy of the WAF . . . about "fake women" and "fake virgins" . . . can you imagine my disappointment? hmmmmm... which one disappointed you most? The fake virgin or the fake woman? Ed... have you been down at the Zanzibar slipping dollar bills into sweaty G-Strings again? .... and was Rick there as well?
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 fur frauen und jungfrauen "women and young ladies" more or less.Thats pretty close to what I thought of as well....but there must also be an Olde English Word from back then .... "Maiden" or something along those lines....?
Colin Davie Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Well . . . I was expecting a post . . . fully worthy of the WAF . . . about "fake women" and "fake virgins" . . . can you imagine my disappointment? I used to know a guy that sold fake women.. to the guys doing long stints on the oil rigs in Aberdeen, sure they were all virgins as well or those big oil workers would have taken him along for the ride instead (literally)Cp.s. any multi-super moderator please feel free to cut my post and paste in on WAF
NavalMark Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I am surprised about the large number of experts for these decoration! Nimmergut says there were at least minimum two jewelers who procuded this decoration, Godet and Wagner. The unsharp red cross with narrow arms is not very nice, but also known on KO with Red Cross made by Godet.I disagree with the public and i think the cross is a period original item.RegardsCSForrester
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Hmmmm.... I would rather save my money and wait for a different one......
dond Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 I seem to remember a discussion about a PKO with the Red Cross device mounted on it a while back. If I remember correctly the discussion went that the device was bad. For some reason this red cross on the award above reminds me of that but I cannot find the thread.
censlenov Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 spotted this one for comparison today.http://www.emedals.ca/catalog.asp?item=GEM636#bigPic
Steve K. Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 The 8s and the 7s really show the difference, not only in their shapes but also the "chasing".
