Wild Card Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Gentlemen, After years of waiting, searching and unsuccessful bidding, good fortune and a Mecklenburg-Schwerin Kriegervereinsmedaille finally came my way...

HeikoGrusdat Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Very cool !!! I know one very special Seeheld that will get some problems with breathing now.....
seeheld Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 (edited) Hi Chris, ahh you are the winner of the auction in Vienna... I tryed to identify this bar, but it's not possible. 14 persons from Mecklenburg got the same combination. Could you please show us the back side? The ribbons are fixed with glue? Regards Seeheld  Edited September 13, 2010 by seeheld
Claudio Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 First time I see this commemorative medal... incredible! It must be very rare... Congrats!

W McSwiggan Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Gave up being envious years ago - now I just drool...
Beau Newman Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I see he was a combatant. Just curious - any idea of the basis of the award of this medal vs. the Mil. Verd. Cross?
Scott Powell Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 congrats! glad it was you that that won the bar!
Wild Card Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Gentlemen, Thank you all for your kind and enthusiastic comments. Coming from such a group, they are most meaningful. As soon as I can get to the bank, I would like to present some background information on the rather unusual design of the Kriegervereinsmedaille. Seeheld - Here is the reverse. As you can see, there is stitching (thread) present and I do not see any evidence of glue. Best wishes, Wild Card
seeheld Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Thank you Wild Card, you are right. My first impression was wrong. Before I got also only pictures of the front side and not from the back side. I was really thinking that the ribbons are fixed with glue... :banger: This was the reason why my bidding was so low. Really nice and rare bar. Congratulation!!! Best regards Seeheld
seeheld Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 If you want to sell this bar sometimes in your life, I'm standing by... Regards Seeheld
Ulsterman Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 wow! Are you sure 14? I thought some of those had EK2s as well.
seeheld Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 wow! Are you sure 14? I thought some of those had EK2s as well. I'm not yet finish with checking the EK2. But still more than 7 left with the same combination. Not every mecklenburgian soldier got a EK2... Regards Seeheld
