Jock Auld Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Guys, This caught my eye today together with another one which I will post seperately. They seemed nice honest bars! I like the local makers mark on the reverse. If this stuff keeps turning up more than TR I will have to consider collecting it as it is pleasing to the eye! Jock
redeagleorder Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Construction looks good, although the Kriegsehrenmedaille, rather than the Kriegsverdienstkreuz, is a bit strange.
Paul R Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Super rare combination. I love the Lippe bars as well. Congrats.
Jock Auld Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 I don't really know much about WW1 stuff, why would that be strange then? I have checked to see if the medal is the removable sort like the other bar but it is not, it has been on there from when it was constructed, do they share the same ribbon? Thanks jock
Jock Auld Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 sorry that was me poking around looking for markings, I do that with stuff, sorry! Is this better? Jock

Thanks jock The Kriegsehrenmedaille (the one on the medal bar) was generally a home front award. It could be awarded either on the non-combattant ribbon or the combattant one, as could Lippe's Kriegsehrenkreuz (their basic bravery award). My comment reflected the fact that it would be far more likely to see a Kriegsehrenkreuz in this combination, however the fact that the construction of the bar looks good, and that the Kriegsehrenmedaille (already rare in itself) was even more rarely awarded on the combatant ribbon, tends to make me like it. One of our members has an excellent website on the awards of Lippe-Detmold: http://www.hausorden.de/
Jock Auld Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 I shall check it out! Thanks Jock
Jock Auld Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Redeagleorder, that is a well laid out site with a lot of detailed info, I have added that to the favourites bar. Thanks Again Jock
Solomon Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Thanks for adding...I always try to keep it updated ;-) The combination of the medalbar rather looks strange...as already written I would expect a war merit cross, instead of the medal...or ...at least a red cross award for a medic serving at the front. Best regards Roman
