ccj Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Hello, I've like to see opinions of the silver-gilt Pour le Merite. Close up
Les Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Looks like a 1920's made piece, based on the design of the tail-feathers. Check out Andreas S-I's website (medalnet). He has wartime examples there, and you can compare the feathers to see the difference. Is it one that you are considering?
ccj Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) Hello and thank you. I was told it was a 1920 PlM so your expert opinion backs this up. yes, considering Edited November 20, 2016 by ccj
Deruelle Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Hi Even if it is a 1920 PlM, it is a nice exemplar. And what about the ribbon, a pure wartime or postwar ribbon ? Christophe
ccj Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 PlM ribbons are tricky for me... it looks good to me compared to known examples in photos but some of the guys in the forum seems to be really knowledgeable on this type ribbon.
VtwinVince Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Nice cross, a real eye-catcher. Where is our resident ribbon-meister?
Streptile Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Nice cross, probably from the 1920s or 1930s. I think the ribbon is a WWII or postwar ribbon. I've seen this cross before at auction, I'm sure of it. Almost bid on it back then...
ccj Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 I'd love to have a good class on Pour le Merite ribbons
Streptile Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 This was a decent discussion: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734393&highlight=PLM+ribbon
