Gordon Craig Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Gentlemen, Does any have a list, or know where I can acquire on, of German diplomats assigned to their Embassy in London, England in 1937? Regards, Gordon
Bayern Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Hello Gordon , since 1936 the German ambassador in London was Joachim v Ribentropp .
hucks216 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 (edited) Can't say that I know of where to look but would the German Embassy be able to help with a list? Not sure where such a request would lay with regards to the German data privacy laws but it isn't as if you are asking for addresses of family etc. This book might be helpful. It seems to have a list of 400 Nazi party members in the UK pre-war so would include diplomats I would assume: http://www.sussex-academic.com/sa/titles/history/barnes.htm Edited November 25, 2018 by hucks216

Hi, the Auswärtige Amt (German Foreign ministry) has it´s own archive, there should also be handbooks to look this up in. Why not drop them a line? GreyC

Regards, Gordon Gordon, You have been given very good suggestions above. I have one more, though it may not give you a conclusive list. If you can, check the medal rolls of the George VI Coronation Medal.
Dave Wilkinson Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 The archives of the Foreign & Commonwealth office would also contain this information. I suspect that such papers would be currently held at the National Archives, Kew. Dave.
Gordon Craig Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 Gentlemen, Thanks for these additional suggestions. I have had a friend check the medal roles for the George VI Commemoration and there were no awards to foreigners listed. This answers my question and the original reason for posting the request. As usual,I learned a lot from my research. My thanks again to all who participated in this thread. Regards, Gordon
