Antonio Prieto Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) Croix-Rouge française (Val-de-Marne) Committed for almost a year alongside the public authorities, the volunteers of the Red Cross still respond today tirelessly to the various requests for support and assistance. To salute this commitment, the French Red Cross has created two new distinctions allowing to honor this flawless commitment. The medal, one per unit, is intended to salute an exceptional action. Considering everyone's commitment as such, the departmental office of Val de Marne chose not to choose between its 800 volunteers and decided, in agreement with its national chancellery, to have this decoration put back to its flag for the benefit of all. The departmental office prompted its local units to follow this idea and many of them have already followed suit. The badge will be given to each volunteer having committed at one time or another in the missions proposed by the Red Cross within the framework of the fight against the COVID-19. All these distinctions will take place by the end of spring. Edited January 28, 2023 by Antonio Prieto

bigjarofwasps Posted November 5, 2023 Author Posted November 5, 2023 No official U.K. Covid medal was ever awarded. But there are a few examples of nice unofficial awards. This one in particular issued Hertfordshire Constabulary is striking.

Here you can see some more drafts for the medal: Here is the COVID-19-medal established by the Lower Austrian red cross organisation: Approx. 8.000 pieces were produced and bestowed. Zulu_00 Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty pissed off that the Irish military didn't do a COVID medal. My only military operation and I've nothing to show for it.
Oz-Expat Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) G'day All, Been a while between drinks, so I thought I would give an update on Aus & NZ Covid awards that keep trickling out. Ones I have previously listed include: AFP Op Protect Citation SA Police Emergency Medal - Active Service NSW Ambulance Pandemic Medal Since then there has also been the following: QLD Police Emergency Medal - Covid 19 Bar WA Police Covid 19 Medal NSW Corrections Covid-19 Medal NT Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance etc) Covid 19 Medal Still no nationally recognised award (i.e. National Emergency Medal) for all organisations and personnel involved. Also, no organisational award (i.e. Operational Service Medal - Domestic Operations or Covid-19) as yet for the thousands (biggest op and mobilisation of Defence personnel) of Australian Defence Force personnel involved in Op Covid. So Australia still has a situation and continuation of those who have and those who haven't been recognised, for people and organisations that did the same job! I also see NZ Gov't started to issue a certificate and commendation/citation pin to those who were involved in Covid-19 operations (inc NZDF personnel). Examples attached. Maybe the new and approved British Humanitarian Service Medal will be used in Britain to recognise COVID-19 response personnel and workers? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-66267872 Edited February 22 by Oz-Expat
Megan Posted February 24 Posted February 24 The UK has stated that there will be no awards of the Humanitarian Service Medal in regard of actions occuring before the date it was instituted, so that is unlikely - nice thought though it might be!

Antonio Prieto Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Chile. Decoration for Humanitarian Merit, which is awarded by the Ministry of National Defense for the services provided by the institutions of the Armed Forces in the COVID 19 pandemic emergency.
mboro Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Poland. There is no state or governmental award. But there is one nice decoration. Krzyż Zasługi w walce z Covid-19 = Cross of Merit in struggle against Covid-19. https://myvimu.com/exhibit/54923348-zyciowy-chichot-losu-krzyz-zaslgi-w-walce-z-covid As you can see at the decoration ID: - it is conferred by the "Klub HDK PCK Serce Górnika" = Club of Honorary Blood Donors 'Heart of Miner' of the Polish Red Cross; - KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. - it means, that the club is active among the company's (mining corporation) employees; - O/ZG Lubin (Oddział ZG Lubin) = Lubin mine. Regards to all
Megan Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Good looking beastie - I like the way they've incorporated the virus into the design of the cross.
Oz-Expat Posted October 29 Posted October 29 (edited) G'day All, Just when I thought it was all over! Australia has another internal organisation medal through the Queensland Corrective Services. This medal is issued to QLD Corrective Service Personnel who worked with the service during the period of the C-19 pandemic, performing their custodial role. Similar to the NSW Corrective Services Covid 19 Medal. Current Awards (I am aware of) in Australia: South Australia Police - Emergency Active Service Medal with C-19 Clasp NSW Ambulance Service - Pandemic Response Medal Covid-19 Australian Federal Police - Op Protect Citation QLD Police Emergency Medal - Covid-19 Clasp WA Police Service - Covid-19 Medal NT Emergency Services (Awarded to NT Police, Fire, Ambulance etc) - Covid-19 Medal NSW Corrective Services - Pandemic Service Medal Covid-19 Medal QLD Corrective Services - Emergency Response Medal Covid-19 I believe that there are still more and some additional ones in the works, but I have been unable to track down all images. Interestingly, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) are continuing to 'stiff' their members by providing no recognition, except to mainly the top brass, many of which never stepped foot outside the office! Even though they had one of the largest deployed footprints, across the whole of Australia and Internationally for an Australian agency. Also, I strongly suspect many other organisations who have provided their staff with awards and medals of recognition for the C-19, would have failed in their missions if the ADF had not been there to support them (i.e. logistics, transport, personnel, security, compliance roles).
