Flávio P.Z.Peixoto Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hello everyone, I was researching the medals that Father Rupert Mayer won in the WW1, I know that he was awarded three times (1st and 2nd of the Iron Cross ), as he lost his leg in combat, I suspect that the third decoration is the wounded badge, but I didn't find anything about it, also, as he died in 1945, it is likely that he had the Hindenburg Cross, could anyone confirm for me what his medals?

dedehansen Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hi Flávio, maybe this https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupert_Mayer#:~:text=Rupert Mayer SJ (* 23,gehörte er zum katholischen Widerstand. is from interest for you. Kind regards Andreas
Flávio P.Z.Peixoto Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Thank you both very much for the information!!! He had a very interesting combination of medals, more than I initially thought, I believe there is no photo of him wearing all his medals, correct?
Flávio P.Z.Peixoto Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 What a wonderful bar! It's great to know that the medals have been preserved and are on display. Thank you very much for sharing it

VtwinVince Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I'd like to see some detailed images of that bar, it looks extremely UV faded and the finish on the WFO looks weird.

Here two copies of the Stammrolle. Both say Ö MVK2, but on the picture he had a knightscross of the Franz-Joseph-Order Edited April 22 by spolei
The Prussian Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) Hello! Here is a photo of Rupert Mayer with the staff of bav. 8th Res.Div., probably taken in Winzenheim. Edited April 23 by The Prussian 2
bolewts58 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) It's the unofficial 8th Bavarian Reserve Division badge. In the first photo he is wearing on his collar (the correct location for it). In the second photo, he is wearing it above the EK1. Edited April 23 by bolewts58 1
The Prussian Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Hello! I think, P.F. means the "badge" he wears BELOW the EKI on the photo which we see in the show case. Could we have a close-up please?

The Prussian Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) Check this out... https://www.ebay.de/itm/393891922824 I don´t have an idea... Maybe the Militär-Sanitäts-Orden? https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Militär-Sanitäts-Orden The medal was received from 1914-1921. Maybe he received it after the war? Edited April 24 by The Prussian
Flávio P.Z.Peixoto Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 (edited) It doesn't appear to be any papal decoration, none of the Vatican's official decorations have this format, they are all breast stars, in addition it appears that he is also wearing the Prince Alfons commemorative badge, correct? I don't think it is the Militär-Sanitäts-Orden (I don't think this came as a pin-back award). Perhaps it could be the Fürstlich Hohenzollernscher Bene Merenti?
Bernd_W Posted April 24 Posted April 24 The ribbon above the order in question? Its imo the Prince Alfons commemorative badge like Flavio suggested.
VtwinVince Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Is there any way someone can zoom in on that spot? My tired old eyes aren't up for it.
The Prussian Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Hello! Ah, ok. My fault. I thought the ribbon belonged to the cross... But a closer look proofed, that I was wrong. The ribbon really looks like the Prinz Alfons! The cross could be the Bene Merenti, but I don´t see the black edgings of the cross-arms, but that can be an optical illusion. Unfortunately I couldn´t find any infos about awards he received after 1918.
Flávio P.Z.Peixoto Posted April 25 Author Posted April 25 It doesn't look like Bene Merenti, doesn't have the black edgings, it's an entire white cross with an enamel around the central medallion, maybe it's from some veteran organization?
The Prussian Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Two guys, one thought... Yes, the missing edgings... but the inner circle looks like the Bene Merenti. Difficult to see...
Bernd_W Posted April 25 Posted April 25 He could habe worn it with the reverse to the front because he was a fan of Coco Chanel, who was also a opposite of the Nazis. Just joking.
