    1. Sorry guys, but as a Prinzen piece I like it even less. The quality and the core strike are really crappy. I've only handled a few correct 1870's and only one 1813 prinzen... quality was way higher than this piece... if it was a correct prinzen, sold in Germany, I'd wager it would have brought at least double the hammer price..
    2. I saw this one too and thought it quite bizarre. Interesting combination with three (3) different grades of the Sax-Ernestine HO present.....
    3. Fascinating photographs. Any idea how much of the display is original?
    4. Hi Christophe.. interesting mix of pre/post break-up insignia! Where/when was the photo taken?
    5. Still trying to figure out what possible reason there could be for cleaning something like this. My advice Mike would be a soft bristle artist's brush to flick away any dirt.... then try a soft bristle toothbrush for anything ground into the wires. It will clean away the crud, dirt amd dust without damaging the bullion, the cloth or removing the patina..
    6. OK, still trying to figure out how to split off this thread. Thanks for your patience. I guess we'll have to ask the Admin to intervene as we can't figure it out ourselves!
    7. Dealer prices are down as well. I was actually able to buy a Boxed Red Banner of Combat for about half what I would NOT have paid for the same piece about a year ago. Just couldn't resist it....
    8. I would have thought just the opposite. Over the last 4 years there never seem to be a shortage of these on the market in First Class. My guess though was they were mostly copies. the Second Class cross is very, very hard to find!
    9. Hi Jens, that was a fascinating series of posts and information. What is the string & wax seal in the final assembled photos??
    10. Looks like a real mix to me. You have a Bavarian red Cross Officer and what appears to be a mix of French, Italian, British & American POW's!!
    11. Greetings Robert. I cannot answer your questions. But that is an interesting photograph!!
    12. Beautiful orders and one I have not seen before. When and what were these awarded for?
    13. Hi Chris, I don't know of any information available in print on these. We are truly in "uncharted waters" on these. There nay be some articles in the BDOS volumes, but you'll have to check that on your end.
    14. Interesting reading and I like the different examples shown of what's right/what's not. Thanks Andrei.
    15. Bar one: Second Ribbon is the W?rttemburg Friedrich's Order. I see no obvious problem with the bar. The stitching pattern, especially the stitching of the short sides is NOT consistent with the currently known fakers' work flooding the market. Always possible it's a new faker, but my gut-call would be it's OK.
    16. These Regimental Medals are quite collectable within a very narrow group. They are quite rare and it's nice to see two examples of this one!
    17. Now this is a pretty rare combination!! Available in the UK for a mere $3,700- plus ship/insure ;>)
