These two sellers are well-known fake sellers. For an example, the verdun, argonne, champagne and somme veteran crosses offered by orehilas have thick numbers in the middle, nearly touching the name of the cross. Originals do not have such wavy lines.

Although they undoubtedly deserved it, I don't think it is very fair to other soldiers who served in specialist roles. Why no star for SAS, secret agents, resistance members and the like? They also went through great hardships. I do not disagree with the award as a whole, just think it is too little too late. A clasp to the 1939-45 star (like the Bomber Command personell Megan mentions) would have been better IMHO. Matthew

Thanks Sascha for that info, I knew officers had to serve some time but didn't know it was 25 years. The possibilty of receiving the RAO as a civilian I didn't think of, although I should have considering the lack of a long service cross. By the way, this soldier was probably part of the 2nd Army Corps. Matthew

Nice set! Yes, the second medal is a Brunswick War Merit Cross, with the clasp for 2 years service on the front line.

The iron cross would have been awarded for battlefield bravery. No iron cross = no oak leaves in 1895. And the red eagle was a routine peace time award to many officers who had been serving for some time, usually majors and above.

From what I can see: 1. Iron Cross 2nd Class 2. Prussian Military Merit Cross 3. Wurttemberg Bravery Medal (Gold or Silver?) 4. Legion of Honour Veterans Medal 5. Imtiaz/Liakat Medal (not sure which) 6. Order of the Red Eagle Merit Medal (could also be the merit medal of the crown order, but I think there are stripes on the ribbon) 7. 15 year service cross Yes the other image is of a turkish pilot badge

I think it is the combatant version. Isn't the non-combatant red with two blue stripes?

The Austrian and Hungarian medals could be worn by anyone who payed enough money for them, so they are not truely indicative of service in Austria-Hungary

Hi gentlemen, Do you think this ribbon bar has a chance of being original? The ribbon before the last is I think of the Gallipoli Star, and the last one resembles that of an Osmanie or Medjie Order, except for the fact it has two red stripes on either side. Do you think it is a 'closest-match' ribbon, another award or a fake? Thank very much for your input and opinion
