    1. Now you are adding an acidic componant. I guess people wearing orders shouldn't drink mojitos.
    2. Note the battle entries. I have all his papers and will add them as time allows.
    3. My uncle dug out some interesting items linked to this grouping. The box arrived today (7 days for a Priority Mail parcel). I opened it up and a stack of documents and pictures were staring me in the face. Here is the initial enlistment discharge document.
    4. "Putting large chunks of gold and silver (not plating over!) creates a potential battery and electrical discharge situation." I've never heard of this. I thought gold, silver and other precious metals were stable and didn't do things like this.
    5. Its a shame really that we are all questing for the truth yet we have so many petty divisions based upon personal preferences. We end up limitting ourselves because of this. Just a thought from someone who frequents many forums.
    6. Hi Tom, I saw the first bar and almost bought it. I didn't see the second or it would have been mine.
    7. Not considering you only had a very few makers/variations versus the industrial production that was to come.
    8. Most white Americans were tainted with racial undertones back then. It was a societal norm. Helping rebuild industry was not a bad thing. I doubt he was asked to help build industry so that Hitler could hurry up and start WW2. Had Hitler been able to quit after Poland (or after absorbing Czechoslovakia) those awards would probably be displayed proudly at the Henry Ford Museum. Because they display a swaz they are automaticallt tainted forever in most people's minds. This is a condition that has hung over the hobby almost since the beginning.
    9. And what service would that be? I thought they were recognizing his contributions to manufacturing cars.
    10. If the theory is that bronze was for navy guys then the ferrous finish theory s a no go. If you go to all the trouble making a badge that won't rust then why put a rusting finish on it?
    11. I would expect that a Saxon that received both classes of the EK would have gotten something from his own state.
    12. One last note, when it arrived the first thing I thought when holding it was the same thing I thought when I saw Stonehenge for the first time- I thought it would be bigger.
    13. Thanks for all the replies. Tom, the cross shown is the first one you reference from emedals so there is one less rarity floating around out there. As for Godet pins and hinges, well they sure used quite a few variations so one more isn't illogical. Perhaps comparing catches would help. Rick is statistically probably correct with the 1920s anything goes. Perhaps a form of ordens-anarchy after the royalty was removed. Saschaw- nice example and I've seen a pic somewhere of one of these in wear. Either here or on waf.
    14. Hi Ralph, I think it might be a fake called "The Raptor" but I would get a second opinion.
    15. I'd say these bars were made by the same person. Not usually a good sign as what are the chances of that?
    16. He's talking about these guys: http://cgi.ebay.de/Seltene-bayerische-Orde...id=p3286.c0.m14
    17. Very nice gold awards. How many were issued/awarded? You don't ever see them for sale.
