    2. An interesting group to say the least I don't think all the medals are his, as he is not listed among receipients of the DSC that I can find
    3. In the 1964 AF Officer Active List there is no officer with the last name as MINAHAN This is a verrrrrry nice uniform indeed . . . love the embroidery The wings are that for Senior Navigator
    4. Here's a pic of similar uniforms c1918
    5. A fascinating resource indeed It's interesting reading the crimes of old
    6. Nice indeed Here's a good site that gives a thumbnail history http://www.seadogs-reunited.com/Uganda.htm
    7. The 1944 edition of Ribbons and medals by TD has the following The Naval bars are listed but notice the Army and AF never made recommendations public, it must have surfaced somewhere
    8. That is the Cost of Arms of the United States of America The stars within the disk above the eagles head represent the original thirteen colonies "e pluribus unum" is Latin; it means "From many, one" and refers to the idea that the United States is made up of individual states and populated by individual citizens, but we come together as a single country What is the design on the other side of the ring? Are there any initials inside the band? The general design is common for WW2 up to today
    9. The Soldier's Medal is an very interesting decoration to be on this bar The SM is awarded for heroism not involving actual conflict with an armed enemy
    10. Unlikely . . . more for Battalion size units Most likely the Silver Star, not enough to merit a NC There is no Marine Commendation Mdl, perhaps you mean the Navy Commendation with V. . . which is possible The Navy Good Conduct is for US personnel only, it is a service award, not awarded for gallantry. It doesn't have a V The USN Expert Pistol Shot Mdl is a service award, not awarded for gallantry
    11. That is the second one of those I have seen within the last five years, the other was from the destroyer Hamilton, which was found in a thrift shop mixed within sports trading cards
    12. If they are like the samples shown, they will be very worthwhile
    13. Take a look at his/her other items, nothing military whatsoever . . . I am watching the skull box . . . kinda neat The feedback shows no military related sales It's no doubt that he/she know it's junk, probably $15 was better than expected Along with writing the selling text using the edges
    14. Be aware that Manions is a bigger minefield than eBay. You can find bargins but they are rare indeed If it looks to good to be true, it probably is . . . Hence the low bid at $225
    15. Just a little off . . . What is worse...the medal itself, or the fact that some nitwit paid E170 for it
    16. Here's a potential starting list . . . (forgive the source, it beats a poke in the eye) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_honor...British_Knights
    17. All ranks can get these The DSO is given for leadership only (non-combat related), the DSO is open to all ranks Gone are the MM, DCM, DFM, AFM, DSM, CGM There are no more officer only or enlisted only awards This is Pvt Michelle Norris - RAMC who won the MC in Iraq, she is a medic
    18. My guess would be souvenir rather than award The Department of Justice (DOJ) awards that I have seen are rather plain and have a DOJ logo
    19. The only reference I have (WP QuattroPro document) groups these in the category of Advanced Camp Awards, a standards reference has not surfaced as far as I know
    20. Hope this is of use- 1) Military Proficiency The Military Proficiency is given to the top five percent of Cadets in each camp cycle, based on the Individuals Combined Military Proficiency scores as prescriben by the Commander, Cadet Command 2) Leadership award I can find no reference or criteria for what the Leadership Award is awarded Your confusion is warranted as the Physical Proficiency, and the Platinum Medal Athlete award ribbons are the same. The PP is a Unit Award, while the PMA is a Individual Award
    21. Even more complicated than that Here is Merchant insignia from the 1920s or 30s
