    1. I'm glad to see you have also succumbed to the attraction of the occassional imperial medal bar. On a more serioius note, congratulations on going over 1000 posts. I appreciate your significant contribution to this forum in some very esoteric collecting areas and your willingness to share so generously with us. Almost every one of your posts is accompanied by a picture. I wish we could all do that. As Bob Dylan told us long ago, "Just keep on keepin' on."
    2. How sad! Another soul consumed by the curse of imperial awards and decorations!
    3. Sad indeed but their gallant examples will live on in the traditions of their services.
    4. Congratulations. Interesting the way the wreath is attached to the cross.
    5. A very interesting and unusual piece. Congratulations on adding it to your collection.
    6. Quite a little nose picker in post #13. Does your wife use it on you much? I'll have to figure out a way to get you into medal bars...
    7. It looks pristine and unissued. Congratulations on the new find.
    8. Welcome Greg! Please look around and enjoy yourself.
    9. I think this three place Saxon qualifies with an older three piece version of the Albert Cross to the Albert Order on one end and the Prussian General Decoration on the other.
    10. Always an interesting variant but be careful how you throw around the initials AWS. That means something entirely different to an old tank badge guy like me, Arno Walpach!
    11. Fair enough. Here's a time, a place and a bit of context: My greatgrandfather sitting at his dining room table in a cottage outside Dublin. He is murdered by a shot through the window by a member of that organization. Perhaps your research will show this to be a random act of violence by an otherwise gallant and noble force attempting to maintain civil order or perhaps it may show a pattern of behavior characteristic of a band or renegade enforcers. You have taken on a difficult research task and I wish you well with it.
