    1. That way I get to see skull's every where.... ....and secret messages when playing records backwards....
    2. Here is how a complete set of dies look like. I have kept this one in a cabinet, because it probably made the insigna I had on the beret when in service. You got the die and couterpart, and the die that cuts the insigna out of the metal plate.
    3. Always nice to see! Especialy of those rare items. I baught a entyre factory in the late '80 ties, ended up with 50.000 dies. Most weight like 0.5 to 1 kg.... One for a helmet crest is like 60 kg for one! And you need 4 for the making of the crest. The factory was located in Antwerp and had TR dies too, like several dies for the pith helmet shields. Here is a bunch of rare Belgian air force badges. They are mine, but I took the pic from the net at random, because finding them here is like impossible. So if you want better pic's, you might have to wait ...a long time.... cheers |<ris
    4. Love the badge. High on my list, only had a ground dug example once. Great history too.
    5. Just reading a book regarding the search of the truth of the independent state of Congo, that is the periode befor 1910. And came a cross the names of Swensson and De Besche - Jurgens (I wrote the names as they are in the book but they are of course the names mentioned by Werner!). Both involved in a 6 hours during heavy battle during a major rebellion. Also mentioned is a German doctor named Leonard Kötz, beside Belgian officers and NCO's. cheers |<ris
    6. Didn't realized they were still made today! Here is a bunch bearing a makers mark from 2004;
    7. In the same house I found a map of a well known( over here!!) painting with the artist's signature in pencil on it. The guy is called Henry Luyten and had his workplace not fare from were I live. He was a great painter, but nothing special to that. Here it comes; he painted a portret of Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen and figured in the German propaganda magazine Signal.
    8. Hey Paul, I rarely drink alcohol at home! But do visit my local pub, or others, 4 to 5 times a week! ;-) I'll take it with me as a personal coaster.
    9. I had a house clearing last week and found this quiet nice tray. Not military related at all and yet.... I think it's is going to be a keeper!
    10. I get most of my stuff from house clearings, flee markets or (not specialized) auction houses. There is nothing so sad and so exiting at the same time as seeing medals(engraved or not!) lying among other junk on the floor,to be sold. Mostly by the relatives. But then again you never know how a item got there were it is now. It could be stolen, given, or even rescued from the bin. I know even story's of veterans , happy to get some extra money for the medals they had there lying for years. So if you find stuf of your relatives be glad you can pay for them to get them, most people (who would want theyre relatives medals!) doe not get that lucky!
    11. I understood the DVR abreviation, I also corrected it im my previous post.;-) About the "EN"; I do confirme it is "EN", with no point between the "E" and the "N".
    12. Thanks Dante! I do confirme the "T.87146 DYR.EN.NEEDS R.A.S.C" exept for one letter the"Y" must be a "V" .
    13. Forgive me my lack of knowlegde, but I tought all britisch medals were named and I do indeed only see the Territorial long service medal to be named on the bar. It was 100€ euro so I bought it. The engraving on the last medal says "T.87146 DYR.EN.NEEDS R.A.S.C."...not a clue for what it stands...!!?? On the bar it self it says "CA 2524".... Some better shots; RASC probably stands for ; The Royal Army Service Corps !?
    14. I managed to figure out what they are, but no clue to what they are worth. Could anyone give me an idea, please?
    15. What you said could exactly match, Paul. It seems the guy also has a wax seal bearing the coat of arms of the original owner, showing the medal next to the legion d'honneur. It might well be a French made medal.
    16. Hey Andreas, there are marks but they are not clear. To me it is ok, just don't know how old it is...
