    1. Great thread. Although I can now clearly see who is outbidding me on eBay for all those EK1 portraits of Gefreiters. :(
    2. Well, it gets cold here....Maine now makes the finest vodka in the world!
    3. Very, very cool. If I read that correctly, Soldat Hutter was in the 1st Nassau Regt.and only aged 19 at Waterloo. Most of his comrades were also very young and inexperienced and took a high proportion of (40%) KIA amongst their casualties, mostly from artillery bombardment in the rear center of the Allied line.
    4. Hmmmmmmm....I know where there's a copy in a library and Rick had a copy. It might still be on his shelf. is it on google book?
    5. Wow! I never knew they had badges too. All I've ever seen are the stamps.
    6. The Chelan hills near where the Yakima used to camp.
    7. Don, any thoughts on Gianna Jins' ribbon bar? She's caused a beer and chicken shortage in China this year.
    8. Great information! Thanks. Korean ribbon bars seem to be available...in Korea. It's still an untapped research area, with a ton of military history on both sides available. There are even detailed North Korean unit histories around, but finding a reliable source is difficult.
    9. If I remember correctly, Rick said this was his first life saving medal.
    10. One of Rick Lundstroms' favorite cases.

      Mt. Khatadin in the morning.
    12. I have a couple of photos of the EK on a bow, both civilians in suits on their wedding day. That Hussar picture is superb!
    13. Would the DRK Abteilung have been separate or been considered part of the Staff?
    14. As I recall the EK summary of 1924 actually enumerated the specific number of EK2s awarded on the black/white ribbon for 'service on the home front'.......@6,000-ish?
    15. That's a very nice and very rare medal ribbon bar. information -accurate- about South Korean medals is difficult to obtain. There's a guy who is writing a book about South Korean awards now and I think he said he's about 60%-70% completed. The South Koreans have changed their awards system several times, or overhauled it after the military withdrew from power.
