    2. Ferdinand of Bulgaria after his abdication returned to Germany and lived in Coburg until his death in 1948 . Hitler apreciated much the Inteligent and witty Ferdinand
    3. Hello Valter , The subject of the origins ,migration and mixing of Peoples is very interesting and complex . I am glad that you understands my point of view ,Kind regards
    4. Grey C : I only punctualized the fact that the German Jews served as OYV in many cases . They have the required money to do so . and the education required to become reserve Leutnant after pass all the exams and fulfill the requisites . If they were commisioned is another thing. the exception were the Baptized Jews which more or less could reach the rank of Leutnant . Others as Hugo Gutmann (1880 1962 ) joined the Army ( Bavarian in his case ) served two years and was posted in the Reserve with the rank of Feldwebel . when the War was declared in 1914 he was recalled and destined to serve in the 16th Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Bavarian Army. he was commisioned in April of 1915 . Gutmann was the direct chief of Adolf Hitler and proposed him to the EK first class . I think that the Jews who were commisioned during the War could have been former OYVs
    5. Hello , regarding the German Jews and the Army , specially the Prussian Army , pre 1914 many Jews entered in the Army as One Year Volunteers . normally in Infantry of the Line regiments but also in Artilley or Pioniere units. the Cavalry was more restrictive but ... one Garde kavallerie regiment was notorious for receive Jewish OYV , it was the second Garde dragoner Regiment nicknamed King Sauls Own and the twelve tribes. the Jewish OYV serving in the Prussian Army inclusive was kindly caricaturized by contemporary artists.
    6. graf , Very interesting all , specially the Waffenrock and Helm of a Medical Officer in the rank of Colonel a Oberstarzt. one detail i want to ask you , The clasp of the feldbinde is the right model for Medical Officers ?
    7. crazyee , Give me a couple of days to review my old Herder dictionary and will be able to give you an answer about the elements of the German sanitaet during WW1
    8. Sanitaet Officers ( Medical Officers ) carried de staff and serpent badge on the Shoulder Boards inclusive the Unterarzte . the badge of Veterinarians was the serpent alone .
    9. Hello ,looks like a coat of arms of some kind . The model doenst carry also a name ? for example , Provence, Bretagne , Dauphine , etc ?
    10. Many Royal Hungarian Honved Officers were not csapatizst even if the belonged to combatant Arms . as was said they belonged to Staffs, or were reactivated to perform reaguard duties. Once I read a book of Mrs Ilona Csiky a Hungarian woman which emigrated after WW2 to Argentina . among other aspects of her pre and during WW2 life in her Country she relates that her father was an Artillery officer in the Honved ,Captain during the late twenties and in 1941 was retired as Major or lieutenat colonel . he was reactivated but notfor combat duties. he was put in charge of a Hospital as Military chief and ended the war in Austria with the Hospital in a Train .
    11. Hello, FW Backhaus was a maker of swords sabres, daggers, cuttlery, etc located in Ohlig Solingen . The trademark was a child mounted on a stork. your pen knife appears to be of WW1 era . please, amplify the inscription visible under the Celluloid grips
    12. Fohadnagy , Magyar Kiralyi Honvedseg , service uniform with patches bordered with gold cord .shoulder boards on both shoulders in gold cord . Colour of the patches ? look as the green of the Infantry not the light blue of the Hussars but after 1942 the Cavalry weared the dark blue patches of the Mobile Corps. All Honved Oficers wear two cord SBs in gold flecked with red , in WW1 only those of Mounted Arms carried on the left shoulder cord Sb . By 1953 the Royal Honved uniform was banned . I see H H that could means Honved Huszar . certainly there were no !8 Cavalry Regiment. In 1941 existed four Cavalry regiments . perhaps the 44 isthe year, in 1944 the 1st Cavalry division was deployed in the Eastern Front after Operation Bagration
    13. The Prussian , Try in the site : uniformology.com / RUHL 17 , apart from other countries are plates of the Imperial Chnese Army 1910
    14. Deutschritter , The retirement ,more precisely go to the Ruhestand Passive situation of Oberst Graf Richtofen took place as consequence of the implication of Generalmajor Graf Kuno von Moltke ,in the Eulenburg _ Harden - Moltke Scandal and trials . once cleared the affaire (more or less ) Your Oberst returned to the Aktive Dienst
