    1. I think it’s more likely that one would encounter silver stars on generals uniforms, especially early war. I would assume available stocks were silver and many generals would have used pre-war stars or stars from their personal uniforms and possessions.

      General de Brigade

      They are silver
    3. The question of gold or silver stars and when the regs changed has plagued me for decades. Some french collectors have told me it was the generals choice while others have told me the color changed to gold post ww1. ive seem tunics and helmets with gold stars that I felt likely were ww1 period.
    4. Does anyone have general staff or war ministry uniform items.
    5. I’m not sure of the regulations but I think it was an order to simplify rank insignia. However, it was not completely adhered to. I’d have to research and not sure which in my books discuss this so o have tried to look. I was hoping someone would answer this for us.
    6. I think cuff rank was dropped by many after 1915, not sure when for certain.
    7. I don’t get it... can’t find anything that rhymes... anyway, it’s a very nice tunic but not sure about the price. But, enlisted and NCO tunics don’t come around often....
    8. Well.... I shan’t finish the joke... Anyway, IR112 was the best Regt between IR111 and 113
    9. .... who may have worn this tunic in the war. Baden IR112 NCO tunic that appears close to issue yet it has to be private purchase imo.... nice quality but seems expensive
    10. It doesn’t seem like 7 years. I too miss Rick and for me the hobby hasn’t been the same without him. and yes, I think about Rick often, especially when on forums or when I get a new ribbon bar or medal.
    11. I live and grew up in the south (USA) and the drink of choice 7 days a week was cold sweet tea. I was unaware Lipton was British because that’s what most southern use for brewing tea. When I joined the army I learned most people in the north and western parts of the USA drank unsweetened tea and that was perplexing to my young brain. Now days I can’t stand sweet iced tea but it’s still the most common drink in the south, but, you can get unsweetened ice tea in the south. Im familiar with hot tea as my dad’s sister, who lived in California, used to ship him crates containing a great variety of teas. She send him cups, saucers, tea steeping deals on chains and whatnot. He preferred coffee but would drink some out of respect for her. I would try if not as a kid I didn’t like hot tea or coffee, just sweet iced tea. Now days, I love hot tea with nothing added and wish I had a relative who wanted to ship me crates of teas. I life English tea, Irish Tea, Green tea, Chai, and love Oolong tea. interesting topic for sure.
    12. I’ve wanted one of these for years and either procrastinated or missed my opportunity. I could a descent one a couple years ago to display on a tunic but just got one I think rather nice with its case of issue. I’m happy with them even though the first one has lost gilt to the swords I wonder why that seems to happen to so many awards. I think my focus may been more on the ek in the photo of the first Crown my new cased Crown
    13. Here’s the Kleiner Rock on a torso. camera in my phone not great
    14. It’s not my bar. As stated, it’s on a tunic listed on Weitze’s site and shown in Baldwin and Fisher’s book. I don’t like the bar and it’s always annoyed me to be honest. I wish it had been removed for the book and it needs to be tossed. im not sure what to think of the tunic as it appears the shoulders once held sewn in boards but now sport boards that are sewn down. I’m not saying the tunic isn’t a real generals tunic but... I do like the collar tabs
    15. I learned it yesterday and was shocked. Karel was very friendly and helpful to me. I didn’t know him other than as a fellow collector but based on all conversations he was a first class man. It’s a tragic loss to his family and all of us collectors.
    16. Nice shoulder boards. I think I like the subdued boards better than the earlier patterns.
