All that belong together was sold together. the buyer of the aviation group got all the documents from the observer and the documents from the father with the big 1870 bar will be sell together. Nothing suspect here except the confusind description. Regards Alex

Hi Ferg, vary interesting piece with a lot of questions. How does this badge was wear without pin and with this vary anussual and big holes. I think this was fixed on something for decoration and its not a badge. Maybe on a memorabilia or something else, pined with nails or something else. Regards Alex

This is for sure a imperial german navy retired aviation badge. The requirements for this badge are the same as for the army retired badge and this are 3 years. One exception was if someone were wound in action and are not able to continue his duty as navy pilot or observer he also could get this badge. Regards Alex
