There is no doubt that this medal is not an original award piece. Not a small or large gold medal. There are no original pieces without RM. Not because of the suspension, which was often modified to make it easier to mount on the clasp. At best it is a collector's item or a post-war production. But what does this mean in reverse? I also think that the size was given incorrectly. The medal looks good but very worn. What is the marginal name on the medal. Can you specify that.

Hi Graham, FAR57 is not a Baden unit, but Welker was a Baden compatriot. He lived in Baden Mannheim/Waldhof my hometown. The last time I saw this medal was in 2013 at an auction in Baden. Very nice. It is a long way from Baden to Australia. Regards Bernhard

Summ was a farmer from Mietersheim Lahr/ Black Forest EK2 24.12.1916 , BsVM ( Badische silberne Verdienst Medal) 15.12.1917 VM Karl Friedrich 08.11.1918 , Wounded Badge ? 31.03.19 30.11.18 promoted to Sergeant. webr55 This is also my opinion now. If you look at the awards of the Braunschweig Officer's Cross. I got the officers through and unfortunately no hit that is very promising.

Saxon War Merit Cross It is the only Saxon war award so it comes first. The other Saxons are not war awards.

This is a black and white photo before 1945, not current. To my knowledge, the cross is lost unknown as described in the book .

This book " Die Orden des Königreiches Sachsen "speaks of the special Grandmaster's Cross. Unfortunately, this cross has disappeared today. It differs from other grand crosses by the balls on the cross arms. Kind regards haku
