    1. Thank you and Merry Christmas. Was it a difficult option to stay in the military for a lifelong career, if you wanted to? What decorations did you acquire during your time in the service? Were you allowed to keep your uniform when you were discharged? Some of the favorite components of my collection are my Fallschirmjager uniforms and the orange beret. Was there a difference between the EM and Officer orange berets? Did the fallschirmjagers have medical personnel assigned to the units? Did they wear the orange waffenfarbe or the dark green rear services waffenfarbe? Sorry for the many questions. I have never met a DDR Fallschirmjager before.

    3. Joerg, Do you still have your uniform? How many years did you serve in the paratroops? What was your final ranking upon getting out of the Army?
    4. I think that the new Nevsky is very attractive and not so cumbersome.
    5. I have never heard of this one before. Thank you for sharing with us. It is a real beauty. What is it made of?
    6. I got the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Service Medal given to me for my time, before the ICM came out.
    7. Those are some really amazing photographs. I am not a fan of the badge either... It looks too "commercial", if that makes any sense.
    8. It looks like the militaria gods were looking out for you on this one. I trust Rick's expertise without question.
    9. Finally some snow in Maine. We are predicting more on Christmas!!

Nice! We haven't had any where I live in Colorado yet. Although the mountains are getting a ton--if you like to Ski, come here this year!

    11. Very interesting posting. Thank you for sharing it. I like how there is a different award for those who died. They deserve a seperate honor.
    12. Hi. The rank is for Oberleutnant. That is a great set. Congratulations. Here is an awesome diagram, which outlines the paygrades within the DDR Armed Forces: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_People's_Army
    13. Sorry about that. I did not realize that there were two different threads on this. I thought that I was losing my mind because I thought that I had already made a comment on it. LOL :cheeky:

    15. There is no Belgrade. That light blue/dark blue ribbon is the Capture of Vienna. Here is an example from the Collectrussia.com
    16. The third medal from the viewer's left, top row, looks like a Partisan Medal.
    17. Thanks for posting those cool looking uniforms. What ranks are represented? Are they 2nd and 1st Lt?
