I can understand KM personnel being transfered to the Heer due to the need for manpower, but I have never seen a Sailor with Heer awards! Especially a Panzer badge!! I would love to know his story! Paul

I hope that the people involved get what they have coming. I am shocked at the speed in which criminals were caught. Maybe the vet knew who they were(which would make the case even sadder).

You could be right. I did pick up the oberstlt tab as well. I do see a color difference. Do you think that the senior tab could be TSD? I dont have any DLV stuff to compare the set of tabs to. Do you have any clues or theories about the blue admin set?

It does look a lot like an SVT bayonet. IT is an undisputed Soviet MN bayonet, whatever the variation. Thank you for sharing it!

Well, he was a Navy Sailor with at least 12 years of service(4 years for a good conduct medal back then). Looks like he pulled convoy duty in the Atlantic and in the Caribbean, as well as some service time in the Pacific. It does not look like he was directly engaged in any major campaigns, as there are no stars in the Campaign medals. With all of those years, I would expect to see an American Defense medal(pre WW2) or a National Defense Service Medal for the Korean War time frame (1950-3). Perhaps this is the lower bar of a multi bar medals rack?
