    1. Another beauty! I am glad to see that they are adoping a medal for Arctic Service.
    2. Any medal with a rifle on it is a cool one! Thanks for sharing this Frank!
    3. I really like the "For Distinction in Combat" medal a lot. Has it been awarded many times yet? Is another of the new medals the Crimea medal posted a few days back?
    4. I do have a question about the topic uniform. Would this type of cap be worn with this uniform? If not, I will need to find a visor cap.
    5. I think that these were definitely replacements. They are not named, but they have definitely been worn like this. The tape used to secure the plastic is old and the straight pins used to hold the ribbons together underneath the plastic are rusted. I suspect an older gentleman wore them like this on his civilian attire? 1980s or 1990s? What do you think? Either way, I bought some period lengths of ribbon and will reconstruct the proper mounts following the mounting tutorial here, so that they can be displayed with the uniform. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/62214-medal-mounting-tutorial/
    6. About time. I cannot find a more fitting name for the award.
    7. There was a huge naval base in Norway during WW2, right? Didnt Max Manus do some damage to some large ships there?
    8. Great stuff everyone! How did the Danish Vet come to receive an American Combat Infantry Badge? Was he in the US Army for a time? This is a US only badge.
    9. Chris, Thank you for posting this very informational thread. I remember reading about Col Hoare and have seen the movie countless times. I am envious of your collection. I notice that he wears some unique shoulder boards of rank. Did they have their own rank system in the organization?
    10. Nice addition Morten! How often do you find KM Beamte uniforms? I like the NCO Beamte uniforms best. Do you have one?
    11. Thank you all. I have had it for a while, but I still love pulling it out from time to time.
    12. At least the name is a bit on the unique side... even if you find the right family, I am sure that most if not all of the males served during that time period in a capacity. I look forward to seeing your results. Can you post some pics of the helmet?
    13. It looks like a relic condition item to me. I would definitely get the crappy paint off of it.
    14. As I get time, I have been pulling out my collection to take some decent photos of the uniforms kitted out on a manikin. I hope that you like this very uncommon example. It is only the second Admin NCO tuchrock I have ever seen. It took me years to find this one and it is a beauty! If you know of any others, please do post them. I personally find the Admin NCO insignia to be very attractive.
    15. Damn... some of those are pretty scary when it comes to rarity. I look forward to seeing the comments on the 4 ORB.
    16. It is definitely a very interesting topic. Is the set super expensive?
    17. Here is a set of medals I found(with the help of a gracious forum member) on Ebay. I want to remount them to display with this uniform set. I have never seen a set mounted like this before. Looks like some sort of convenience mount.
    18. Bill! I did not know that you were switching focuses!! Very nice start. Thank you all for the history/background on this unit.
