I guess that anything is possible, but that is definitely a lot of trouble to modify or promote an SS officer. Supplies must have been really scarce or the officer really broke.

That is a smoking hot bar! So if the Prussian Hohenzollern House Order 3rd Class with Swords was for officers, what could the enlisted person have received for the DKiG equivalent? Is it possible the reason this person did not see war duty is a disability of some sort(Wounds from WW1 or intrawar accident)?

I would think that something truly chilling would have been delivered in person, with a truck load of greeters to help in articulating the "message". It would be interesting to know what was written inside.
