      I finally found out who the maker is. #56 It is a Robert Hauschild. Thanks to the people at Wermacht Awards. They have a great list of Makers with pictures.

      Pass Pass Pass. The eagle and skull are dead give aways. The twins to this hat pop up everywhere. Look for pics on websites on originals and how they look now. This will open your eyes and you can see the difference.

      Nice work. Any opinion on how the insignia should be sewn to the piece? Ran across one that was in decent shape. The sewing on the insignia was horrible. Wasn't too sure so I left the piece alone. I can still purchase however. I want to wait till I have more info.

      Good advise is to leave the cross as it is. I know it is very tempting to clean the cross and make it shine. I thought on it for awhile on my first cross. Now I am just looking for another shinier example. Gives me another excuse to buy more.

      Skinheads wrote this. You may be able to take it to a professional who could possibly restore it. I have seen these before and I have seen these repaired as well. It is a shame this happened to such an awesome flag. You can always display it on the unmarked side. Good Luck.
