Hi friends, some words from me according the rolls. Paul is asking how it will look like. The ?Roth style? was date, name, firs name (if available in the original roll), Rank, unit (if available in the original roll). The new ?Rick and Daniel style? will be Name, first name, rank, unit, date, remarks like later promotion to General rank or remarks to other awards, birth and death year. A word about the time. Roughly I need some seconds to transcribe an award entry and additional 10 minutes for the added thing which are NOT in the roll. W?rttemberg will have around 23.000 name entries, so count around 3.800 hours! W?rttemberg: I did the MVO and Crown Order with swords, Frederick with swords, golden military merit medal, Merit cross with swords, Wilhelmscross with swords. Big help came from Uwe Bretzendorfer and Werner Nickel. Whats new, I noted everything according the insane W?rttemberg return policy. And I did non-W?rttemberg awards given to Members of the W?rttemberg Army in WW1. Ernestinian duchies: As Rick already noted, we combine all 3 in one volume. Altenburg ? done by the late Erhard Roth, is re-done and improved by me, Coburg and Gotha is done ? more or less Meiningen is done ? more or less. In the next weeks I plan to go to all Ernestinian archives to see if anything else survived. Weimar: I?m expecting 2 last copies from the archives and we will be ready. I will not speculate now for future plans like a re-done Royal Hohenzollern roll or a re-done Saxon roll before we finish the actual projects. Reu? and Schwarzburg rolls are there in the archives. I will go there next weeks to see?? Best regards Daniel

Hi Chris, I would guess Adolf Frhr.v.B?low, born 1870, died 1944, 1914 Major in IR 31, retired as LtCol from IR 159. Other awards: Red Eagle 4, Saxon Albert knight 2nd class, Weimar falcon knight 1st class where he got the swords to the cross as only other WW1 award I know at the moment. Best regards Daniel

to clear it a bit more, the TIME regulations for the Ehrenzeichen der Bundeswehr are the minimum time a soldier has to serve before he can get the fitting class of the award. Exeptions are just done in rare cases. I received my Bronze Cross as Feldwebel in 1997 after the flood at the river Oder. I just served 5 years and some months as I got it. If I would be "in" a year shorter I would have gotten the Medal. There is NO automatism to get one award like this. In the Bundeswehr You can a lot of the older NCO?s and staff officers with a Gold Cross, but the lower classes are more rare. For Foreigners it is a bit more compliated, as their rank plays also a role adn the time limit does not count. Generals receive the Gold Cross Staff Officers the Silver Cross Field Grade Officers and highest ranking NCO?s the Bronze Cross Enlisted men and junior NCO?s the Medal. Actually in service abroad a few selected members of allied forces can get the "Einsatzmedaille der Bundeswehr" (Bundeswehr service medal) for merits WITHthe German Troops. That a foreign soldier received a class of the Ehrenzeichen der Bundeswehr is indeed a rare case and although it is the lowest class it is still a high award. Best regards Daniel

...and to feed You a bit more.... Here are the award numbers actual known today. Still not completely done. I counted the awards mentioned in the FIVE DIFFERENT ROLLS for THREE states, took the sum, but what is most interesting is the last column. It shows the awarded pieces. Number is of course much smaller because of all that combined awards. Best regards Daniel

That bar drived me crazy since years. That it appeared now at ebay is amazing. Original or not I cannot say without a in-hand inspection. IF ORIGINAL - You have a Prussian GENERAL there. 1870 service EK, XXV, 1870 medal, SWA most likely steel, Centenary, Baden BZ3bXE also from 1870 and nothing else because everything else was around the neck or on a sash. Best regards Daniel

Daniel Krause replied to Kev in Deva's topic in State, Civil Awards & Decorations
That CANNOT be the bar of Schulze-Dewitz. He also had a Milit?rehrenzeichen 1st and 2nd class. Schulze-Dewitz medal bar was posted a while ago in a German Militaria Magazine. Best regards Daniel
