    1. Hi Christer, last ribbon is a Baden 1902 jubilee medal. No red eagle. Otherwise You are right. EK1 might be, Brunswick 1 not necessary. The absence on any other pre-war awards except the last 3 allows some conclusions. He was either a Baden native or at least serving with a Baden formation in 1902. If he was an officer he was most likely a Captain in 1914, Major middle of the war and probably a ret. LtCol in 1919/20. It would as well be possible that he was an NCO, but this is more theoretical. Awards from 4 different countries in WW1 were usually a sign for a staff type Officer unless our guy was maybe a kind of a secretary on a higher command. 3rd possibility is, that he was a General with some more stuff worn d the neck. But I think to put a name on him will be quite difficult. - No way to tell which Mecklenburg award was in 2nd place. Schwerin? Strelitz? - Oldenburg rolls still unknown to me, maybe Kapitular is working on that - Brunswick rolls do not exist......... Best regards Daniel
    2. @ Andy, thanks, as usual perfect!!!! @ Jens Somehow in SWA he hold a speech to his troops and told them something they had to do "like the old romans did", so from this speech the name came from. Best regards Daniel
    3. Hi Jens, sch?nes Bild vom "alten R?mer". Seine Auszeichungen: plm, RAO2EXR, RAO3SXKrs2, KO2XR, KO3X, HOH3X, DA, SWA, BMV3X, BrH2bX, MMV2, SMK, SEK1X, WK2cX, ?EK2K Hier hast Du noch einen.. Beste Gr??e Daniel
    4. Hi Wild Card, You are alwqys welcome. So, where is the next challenge??? Best regards Daniel
    5. Hi Wild Card, niiiice bar!!!! As Christophe already said, W?rttemberg can be very difficult because of that ridiculous return and re-award pracice. But this case is out of the line quite easy to solve with my "Non-Wtbg. awards to W?rttembergians in WW1": Eberhard Freiherr von Gemmingen-Hornberg, born 1883, WM3 12.01.1917 as Rittmeister in UR 19, he had to return for it his golden Military Merit Medal, awarded 15.07.1915 as 1st Lt. WF3aX 25.01.1918 (Dates from the still un-published Wtbg rolls) BZ3bX 31.12.1915 as 1st Lt in the Ulan 20 SLK 21.09.1918 as RM in Ulan 19 additional EK1 and knight of the Order of St.John. Best regards Daniel
    6. Hi Christophe, nice pic!!! The only Henning who got a Schwarzburg 3rd Class with swords was a Captain Henning in the Reserve-Ersatz- Infanterieregiment 2 30.07.1915 (thanks to Dave Danner for his work on Schwarzburg!!!) Unfortunately there is no d.L. or d.R. mentioned in the roll, as well not his prewar assignment. Best regards Daniel
    7. just to explain, the Weimar Rolls cover WW1. I doubt that a dutch one got a German WW1 award with swords. Best regards Daniel
    8. yes, they counted any armed service. Any difference to the "old counting" - wartime did not count double. Best regards Daniel

    10. Hi Friends, there is another set from this guy around. I hope my friend will not mind if I post the pic here. I think as well that the "Belgian" ribbon is more likely a Reu? Arts and science medal. This was given short before the war as well to Engineer-type soldiers. Best regards Daniel
