Steve K. Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 (edited) After over 5 years of collecting Imperial German items, here is my collection (minus a few flight badges on loan). Naturally, I want to thank Stogieman for helping me find some of my treasures. The majority of the items are unattributed and untraceable....hopefully the next piece added will have a name or documented lineage. Thanks for looking!! Edited July 30, 2006 by Steve K.
Richarddwh Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Steve, some very nice pieces you haev there, a nice array!
Guest Rick Research Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 NON combatant Mecklenburg-Strelitz!!!!!!!!!
Ulsterman Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Nice Meck-schwer. 1870 group.whats' the medal at the back next to the navy photo?
Steve K. Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 (edited) Thanks fellas.......As you can see, Mecklenburg is the preferred flavor (Rick spotted my favorite Strelitzer gem!)...but actually any of the northern German states will do!Ulsterman, the medal is Meck.-Schwerin Civil Service Medal (3 grades..gold, silver and bronze), one of the few Imperial medals worn at the neck, given to scientist/engineer/civil types. The Meck.-Schwerin 1870 bar is my 'holy grail' piece. Edited July 31, 2006 by Steve K.
seeheld Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Very nice, but can you give us more details of your Mecklenburg medails? Thanks a lot
seeheld Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 @ Steve K.,here can you see a part of my own collection. It's Mecklenburg only inside.
Steve K. Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 @Seeheld, Exceptionally nice Mecklenburg Collection!!
Paul R Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 NON combatant Mecklenburg-Strelitz!!!!!!!!! That is my favorite too!!!
dond Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Very nice and tastefully displayed. I love the nameless bars. Sums up the futility of WW1 to me.
Gerd Becker Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Great collection, Steve. Love the Air-Gunner There are more Medalbars, what do they look like?Gerd
Steve K. Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 @dond, I agree. @Gerd, I wish I had more medal bars to show but that's all I have, except for a few single pieces scattered around my study. I do have a nice, unmounted Mecklenburg Knight's Cross of the Wendish Crown Order. But that sits in its own special case! The Imperial Air gunner badges (prussian or bavarian ) are my favorite. Real ones are just so hard to find. I will put those I have up for discussion when the time comes!
Daniel Murphy Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 (edited) Steve, Now that I know you have a real Mecklenburg fetish, I must show you my Upside-down Mecklenburg-Schwerin MVK some day. Or have you seen it? Great collection and well displayed. Dan Murphy Edited August 1, 2006 by Daniel Murphy
Steve K. Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 Now that I know you have a real Mecklenburg fetish.... Don't tell my wife.....I think I've seen the upside down FF2....one of those weird anomalies that was certainly induced by imbibing the concoction of water, malt, hops and yeast (aka: the great elixir of life!).
gregM Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Very nice looking collection and nicely displayed I would really like to see a better picture of this little beauty.[attachmentid=48561]
