    Centenarmedaille; Zustand: 1-2

Milit?r-Verdienstorden 4. Klasse ohne Schwerter; Hersteller: Jakob Leser; Zustand: Die Emaillierung der Kreuzarme st?rker gechipt!!

Orden vom Z?hringer L?wen - Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Eichenlaub; wundersch?nes altes Modell mit echt goldenem Medaillon; das Eichenlaub ebenfalls aus Gold; Zustand: minimaler Chip im Porzellan, ansonsten ein perfektes St?ck

    I'll combine these two threads.

Got him  -- but as ALWAYS in these cases, please anybody else do NOT post original wearer's name identification for any item up for sale while it is still for sale:

not only is that free/unearned data FOR some unknown seller's sole gain, but largely a waste of time for items which vanish into the Great Unknown anyway and are NOT brought home by Faithful Readers here.

I had this guy in 2 minutes. It's all in how the combination....combines. :catjava:

(At least this guy survived the war even if he never wore his medals again. )

    Hi Rick,

I thought it would easily (for you at least :P ) researchable this bar.

I think I might bid on it. Please, let me know, fellow collectors, who is also interested in bidding on it. I wouldn't like to be involved in a bidding fight with a member of this Gentlemen's club!

Just a side note; I noticed that the OLZ could be a very nice of variant with Golden round medallion and massive eichenlaubs, although from the blurred pictures it is difficult to recognize. What do you think? The Ehrenkreuz of Schwarzburg is also rarely seen on medal bars... very nice! Was that the key of such a "quicky" finding??? :cheeky::beer:

    Ciao,

A very nice non combat bar ! The bavarian MVO without swords is also extreme rare with under 400 awarded pieces (but I'm not sure). If these nice bar wouldn't be so expensiv I would buy it...

I wish you good luck !

    Hello,

Probably a dumb question but one that keeps me figuered anyway when looking at this eyecandy.

Why is the F?rstlich Schwarzburgisches Ehrenkreuz (Modell f?r Rudolstadt) - Ehrenkreuz 3. Klasse on the ribbon bar at the second place while at teh actually medal bar it is positioned almost at the very end?

    Any toughts on this?

    Thank you

That was quite a clue Rick. I think I have his photo-still too much for my bank account.

That is PRECISELY how I picked him out so fast.

There were literally thousands of M1905 BMV4s awarded up to 1914... I don't know where the figure of "400" comes from, but it is wrong. That one is so common, indeed, that it was no help in Speed Location of this officer-- though its presence with the others confirmed the identification.

    Hi Ricky,

Aha  => well then i hope that someone of you guys does pick this one up + that his identity will be revealed once again from the darkness of history.

As that way i will also learn again why the Schwarzburg one does change its presence :cheeky:

    Cordial greetings + thanks

In my eyes neither the rank and miltary career of the recipient nor the condition and rarity of the medals and orders would justify such a high price ($ 2333 at the moment). A nice peace-time medal bar, but not extremely extraordinary. I got many better ones for less.

Is this a general forum rule? What sense does it make, I d not see a reason for this!

No, its not, but its a general agreement between the researchers. There were several incidents, where the Identification of an awardee increased the price of a piece without any appreciation of the work of the researchers. NEVER!

Therein lies part of the frustration for folks Willi. They spend hours of their time trying to help someone out and it was either not necessary as the owner of the bar already knew, or the information was then used to double/triple the asking price of an item.

It has a tendency to make the research specialists hesitant to share/help people out.

True, Rick, very true! Those who have never done research cannot understand the work that is involved. And so many see research merely as a momentary increase in money in their pockets when they flog a parasitically researched group. Look around this forum, there are so many (too many) cases of what you describe. It leads inevitably to the researchers keeping silent. So sad, so sad.

Hi Willi, this was not directed at you. As far as I am concerned, the incident in question is over. Hopefully, it will be over for you as well.

Your comment is (again) not very polite or in spirit of this forum.

I hope you can move beyond this soon.

Sorry but I do not see anything impolite part of my answer. Maybe you are a little bit oversensitive but it was not my target to be impolite. The messsage I read in your answer was clear in my eyes and I was disappointed because of that. The incident you are talkling about was clearly my fault and I am sorry about it and it is over for me as well.
