DocHi Doc -The "Blue Bible" as I call it is called "A Magyar Nepkoztarsasag Kituntetesei" (The Hungarian People's Republic Medals) ISBN# 963 220 641 X Unfortunatly it is not in English and the Hungarian is very "legalistic" - as it pretty much just lays out the decrees of nearly all the awards up to 1977. even has a section on the Austrio Hungarian and Horhty era awards. The legalistic Hungarian is even difficult for Hungarians to understand! But it has so much more information than the "Nagy Magyar Kit?ntet?sk?nyv" (Large Hungarian Book of Medals) - though this is an excelent book as well! Here is another recent aquisition.1976 Order of Merit for the Socialist Hungary. It was to be bestowed "at the end of a long time of meritorious work, cosisting of the exemlary activity for the society, acknowledged by a structured life of seriving in part of the government and armed forces" the order was bestowed 1965 times betweeen 1976 and 1989. Absolutely beautiful!!!!Now I'm guessing that it's super rare and really pricey, right? That's the way my luck tends to run with goodies I like this much. Please let me know though as if it's anywhere within my range at some point I'd sure love one of them.What type of case did it come in? Did it have classes or only just this one? The only one that I have seen in a case was one issued to a Gold Medal Olympian - its in a dark blue oversized case with dark blue crush velvet inetrior. I mainly see these 'loose' without the case when they come up for sale, but that is not too often. Here is the reverse. Its gold plated - not solid gold. There was only one class. hunyadi Posted January 16, 2007 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Here is another grouping that I picked up a while back and have yet had time to post...Still trying to translate all 4 pages that are written about it in the "Blue Bible" This is the Excelent Council Work Badge insituted in February 17th, 1977. It was instituted by the Council of Ministers, but the award was delegated to the smaller districts and their councils for bestowal. The requiremetns were an exemplary ammount of service and dedication of work to the local council for a minimum of five years. Multiple awards were allowed, however it could only be bestowed uppon an individual only once every three years. The badge came with a 3000 Hungarian Forint award. After bestowal, (following the Excelent Worker mode) your performance would be evaluted again in one month (to make sure you still have zeal?) if at that time you rwork was not seen as exemplarary - then the award and the bonus would be taken back! Not much information on this one - except that in 1977 all future awards of this were to be canceled and a Kivalo Dolgozol would be handed out instead. First off is a 1951 issue item. With the document and a card - the card is the interesting part as it has '803' written on it to make it my assumption that it was serial number 803. Though this card had to be combined with the carrying document to make it complete. My guess is that this badge came in three classes - as there is a roman numeral II at the bottom of the disc. Interesting that this poor man got the 20 year service medal as a 1st Lieutnant!!! And got the 25 year service medal as a Captain! Clearly one of the least 'stellar' carrers. So he would heve been around during the revolution as to get the any of the service medals required 'continuious' service. I wish I had more of the lot - but it has not turned up anywhere (yet???) There is a slight chance that he entered into service as an NCO and worked hs way up - but to get the Service to the Fatherland in the 1970's seems a bit much...but again I dont have all the pieces to the puzzle - Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
