Mike K Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 So what exactly gives this away as bad? The combination itself?RegardsMike
edgecrusher Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 So what exactly gives this away as bad? The combination itself?RegardsMikeHi Guys,I am wondering as Mike was what give this away - as someone relativly green with medal bars this one caught my eye when I saw the listing! Ribbons appear to have some wear etc.RegardsSimon
redcross Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I'll make a guessits nice old ribbonperhaps recycled from another barand I suspect that from the holesleft from where it had been sewn beforebut the thing most strikingis the non-combatant EK ishanging from a ribbon that is of incorrect widthwhat more might be wrong I leave for our expert to revealI know I have plenty to learn
Paul C Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 The onlky thing I can see it that the style of the bar, trapazoid, is the very early war type and possible out of use by the time the Meck was being awarded. Is is possible a 1870 EK2 and 1870 Meck would be more appropriate?

Solomon Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 What is wrong w the medal bar?Hmmm...bid on your own risk, but I as Lippe-expert, who is always interested in such rare NC-combinations, won?t buy this stuff under any circumstances. Just my opinion...Best regardsSolomon
Mike Huxley Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Errrrrrrr .... Could it be that this award is the right one to go with the NC EK?
Solomon Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Errrrrrrr .... Could it be that this award is the right one to go with the NC EK?Ah, nice war honor medal...on a bow-style NC-ribbon for women.I have the same medal with the same bow-style ribbon for combatants (extreme rare!).It?s possible that this award goes the NC-IC, but not on a bow for women The combination NC-iron cross and NC-war merit cross Lippe-Detmold is a quite common and possible combination. The problem with this offer is the seller and his "very special" medalbars...By the way the seller gives no guarantee for the combination of awards on his medalbars...he only guarantees that the awards and ribbons are original Please think about this carefully...Best regardsSolomon
Stogieman Posted September 20, 2007 Author Posted September 20, 2007 BINGO!Right stuff, plausible combination.Assembled recently.Note the soil pattern on the ribbons.Note that the top edge of the ribbons have been "sanded".This fellow goes a long, long way to make his items appear real.........Unfortunately, they are not!
