Bob Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Nr 37 up for auction at thenewyorksale.com in January... imagine if you could have been a fly on the wall throughout the life of that award... must have been an interesting journey from the mint in Russia to Mongolia and eventually an auction in New York.
Bob Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Any way I could post some videos here? Have one depicting Tsedenbal presnting Mikhail Suslov and Yuri Andropov, the Order of SB. Another one handing Kosygin the SB order. Interesting is that both videos confirm the awards came with a box.

Bob Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 http://www.net-film.ru/en/film-13328/?sp=ru&s=soviet+sport This is where i found it. Takes 1-2 minutes to register and then you can download old news videos. I only did a search on Sukh Baatar, but I'm sure there's more interesting stuff to find.

Bob Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 To add to this long thread (many people must like this award:)), here's a nice recent addition to my collection: SB nr 37 (!) Judging by named awards around that number, the recipient of this one was most likely also somebody with some interesting stories to tell... Keeping fingers crossed on potentially getting a name to put behind this SB. My guess, based on where I got it from, is that it was awarded to a Russian - but that's just a guess. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2012/post-679-0-80141500-1329390848.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2012/post-679-0-61876900-1329390859.jpg

Bob Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Just in: initial (more to come I hope!) research on the recipient of the documented screwback SB number 747 in my possession. History coming to life! "Sharavjamts Shadavtsoodol was born in Tugrug village of Uvurkhangai province in 1921. He was drafted to the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Army in 1939. Shadavtsoodol graduated from the Artillery intermediate school in Tambov town, the Soviet Union in 1945. In 1958, the shooting sports club was set up under the Voluntary Society to assist the People’s Army (Mongolian DOSAAF). Major Shadavtsoodol was commissioned to the club where he served as a trainer in shooting from 1958-1964. From 1964-1973, Lieutenant Colonel Shadavtsoodol served as the trainer in shooting at the General Military School. He was discharged from the active military service in 1973. Shadavtsoodol is considered as one of the founders of the Mongolian Shooting sports. He started to practice the shooting sports in 1955. In 1959, he scored 509 in AB-5 exercise and thereby winning the title of the Sport’s Master. He set the record of the shooting of the Mongolian People’s Republic three times. Shadavtsoodol also holds the title of the “Best Hunter of the MPR”. Most of all, Shadavtsoodol contributed enormously to strengthening Mongolian shooting sports and its personnel."
