JapanX Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Another original "transitional" order № 191? Obverse
JapanX Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Hope this thread will save you some money Nick
speedytop Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Hi Nick, a very interesting comparison. "The first wave of high-quality faked Orders for Personal Courage came to the market around 2003-2004" To my knowledge we had earlier copies/fakes before 2003. And that is my problem. I bought this medal around the middle of the 90s, for a very low price. It must be a better copie/fake? Uwe
JapanX Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Hi Uwe, indeed very nice fake! Better copy than "Baltic" Courage? Hmmm. It hasn't typical for "Baltic" Courage flows, but it has it own and quite profound flows Serious problems with shades of white (especially) and red enamel. Too embossed line under the number. Wrong handwriting of course ... Interesting that MONDVOR has #250 http://mondvor.narod.ru/OLMuzh.html and earlier I showed # 255 But overall very impressive quality, especially for mid 90s! 150 DM? Regards, Nick
JapanX Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Forget to mentioned another terrible, unacceptable () flow - "splashed" gold gilt at obverse ... Our Baltic beauties wouldn't allow themselves something like that Not to mentioned that they actually made in silver and have correct weight (approximately, ee) and dimensions. Cheers, Nick
JapanX Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) No, appr. 50 or 60,- DM Uwe Schleuderpreis! Edited June 29, 2012 by JapanX

GaryS Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Thank's for taking the time and effort, very helpful for a novice like me.
JapanX Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 Sad but true story So there was an auction... A nice cased order ... With doc... At first glance (and on the second too ) doc looks original as well and the order This one dosn`t have any (quite obvious) "baltic" signs ....
JapanX Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 (edited) Good thing that the cavalier of original one still has his award Edited June 15, 2013 by JapanX
SergioV Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Thank you for the info Nick very intersting
Ferdinand Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Hey, there could be two guys with the exact same name being awarded the same order on the same day
JapanX Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Indeed! Or somebody took unissued original Courage, mixed it with empty original doc and doctored them for 5-7 minutes on slow fire
Bob Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Very useful thread. Question: how would you qualify the documented one on www.dmitrymarkov.com ?

Haven't bought from him in years but, how shall I say this nicely? His quality control may be a bit lacking. Or at least it was. I only use his site to d/l his auction catalog images for reference.
