Scott Powell Posted January 11, 2013 Author Posted January 11, 2013 Multiple Hanseatic bar FANTASTIC!
W McSwiggan Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Wow... any reason why the two "reds" are not together? Neat bar - thanks for sharing. I suspect awards are mounted in order won. Just a guess - wasn't that the proper manner of wear at one point?
redeagleorder Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 My one and only hanseatic bar. I have a soft spot in my heart for these awards, and all the bars shown here have been great! Matthew
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Hi, thats fantastic! Can one assume he died before the Ehrenkreuz came out? One of the few reasons I can think of for the mounting to stop there...

azyeoman Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Now THAT is cool... I wonder when he got it?? According to Claudius and Japan X, it's the right type for the 1930/40s. I suspect he was on a voyage to Japan.
Signalcorps45 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) There are some amazing bars in this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One more to a Saxon. Merit Order Knight's 2nd Class w/swords 1914 EK 2 Lubeck Hanseatic Cross Dean Edited January 13, 2013 by Signalcorps45
Bernhard H.Holst Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hello: Another Bremen with ribbon arrangement not seen that often. Bernhard H. Holst
Bernhard H.Holst Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hello: Another Hanseatic Cross , this one Luebeck which is the rare one among the three. I prefer Bremen because of personal attachment to that" Freie und Hansestadt" ( Free and Hanseatic City) with the key to the world as its emblem in the city crest. Bernhard H. Holst
Bernhard H.Holst Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) Hello: This Frackspange belonged to Hauptmann d.R. W. Thesing, also part of the group are I.C.I.cl; black woundbadge, ribbon bar, button hole decoration for the Hohenzoller as well as complete documents. Bernhard H. W McSwiggan Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Whoa! Am I mistaken or does the ribbon bar in the lower right corner of post #34 have all three Hanseatic Crosses??? Sure looks like it to me! While no expert, I suspect that this individual is something special! In O'Connor's volume 7, he identifies only one aviator (medal magnets that they were) who was awarded all three - yup - Manfred von Richthofen. Clearly this was not his bar but how many can there be? Even Udet had to settle for two! Here is mine , strangely I don´t have any Hamburg bars ..... A goal for 2013 !! First out Bremen and then Lübeck with a ribbon bar , and last one wich I showed here before but still unnamed .... I have one !! guy who got this and nothing more so far , but I can´t be sure that its him ... Christer Edited January 16, 2013 by W McSwiggan
W McSwiggan Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Just spoke with Rick Research about this thread and specifically, triple awards of the Hanseatic Cross. He suggested that amongst the Hanseatic regiments, there were (more than one might expect) a number of instances of triple awards. He could not access his data at the time we spoke so could not provide numbers.
speedytop Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Hi, "triple awards of the Hanseatic Cross" In a group of several high ranked Generals of a noble family (not in my collection!) I found one General der Infanterie with all three Hanseatic Crosses. Apart from that he was distinguished with the highest Prussian decorations, the highest decorations of some German states and several very high foreign decorations. Uwe
