Deruelle
Hi everybody, I would like to show you one of the nicest Saxon officer ribbon bar I have in my collection. This bar belonged to Generalmajor Emil Fürstenau (1865-1930). Before the war he served in Staff in IR 181. When the war has begun, Major Fürstenau was Bataillon commander of IR Nr. 105 till March 1915. The he took the head of the RIR Nr. 102 till August 1916. He finished the war at the head of the 192 Infantry Brigade. Despite the fact he lost his left arm in September 1914, he has chosen to continue to serve his Country till the end of the war. A true hero. He received the following medals and orders : On his ribbon bar : Knight cross of St Henry, 24 August 1914, Knight cross 1st class with X of Merit Order of Saxe, 28 August 1915, Iron cross 2nd class, 1914, Knight cross 1st class of Albert of Saxe, 24 May 1910, Long service medal for 25 years, 1910, Knight cross with X of House Order of Hohenzollern, 2 November 1916, Knight cross with X and Lions of Crown of Wurttemberg, 22 December 1914.
