IrishGunner Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Too bad that Red Eagle is missing. That is a beautiful bar.
Paul C Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Very, very nice. It might have been for a staff officer. What is interest is that there is no 1870 EK2. With 5 foreign awards and no EK2 it may be possible to find him in the ranklist or DOA. It would take some work.

ixhs Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Add a RAO4 and the bar is complete.Seems, that he got the most of his medals for civil merit. The Centenarmedal is a gilded private purchased & reduced piece.I think the bar wasn`t made by Godet. It looks like a JHW piece.
saschaw Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Have the past eight years brought a solution to this riddle? I agree with ixhs' assumption: Due to the lack of a long service award, this group is most likely to a civilian, who only happened to be a soldier during the Franco-Prussian war. My best guess would be something like a factory owner. Given none of the foreign awards is extremely uncommon, I think it's difficult or impossible to find him via the Deutscher Ordens-Almanach. But who knows, this might be solved by chance, if maybe a named photograph with exactly this group in wear appears. My fingers are crossed!
