Chris Boonzaier Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Hi, here is my only Landwehr service dadge, a bavarian 2nd class... as you can see, the wearer adapted it a little, its not how it was supposed to be worn....
turtle Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I think it´s time to get some prussians into the game! Landwehr Dienstauszeichnung I. Klasse Landwehr Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse
Chris Boonzaier Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Hi, Thanks! If an officer got the II Class Prussian landwehr Dienstauszeichnung in 1910, the 2nd one you have shown is what he would have had on his bar right?
turtle Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 In 1910 he would´ve been awarded the brooch version, the medal version of the 2nd class was only introduced in july 1913.
westfale Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Gentleman, and here the Brunswick ones, enjoy! regards westfale

Hi, was there a swap? i.e. when the medal was introduced, did officers trade the brooch for a medal? The medal bar in Question is from the 1930s with Ehrenkreuz, and I cannot remember seeing bars with brooches that late ?
turtle Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I don´t know, if they received the new version for free or if they had to buy the medal.
Chris Boonzaier Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Hi, I would guess they had to buy it, but you think they did in fact change them?

chuck Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 My Prussian Landwehr 1st Class in guilded bronze with makers mark from Sy-Wagner, "S-W". Chuck
Chris Boonzaier Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Picked this up recently, seems to be period mounted this way...
Chris Boonzaier Posted April 24, 2016 Author Posted April 24, 2016 Very nice indeed! A side collection? I wonder if the pinback was for Civilian wear? It looks to be a jeweller alteration?
Odulf Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 An interesting award document of the Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse, presented 25 Januar 1902 to an Obermatrose der Landwehr I. Aufgeboth, by the Königlichen 55. Infanterie-Brigade. Remarkable, a Navy sailor received the Landwehr Clasp via an Infantry Brigade.... Would he have received the Baden Clasp?

chuck Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Hi Andreas I read von Hessenthals' book on the difference in lettering on the reverse. Still a little confused as the Prussian LandWehr II classes that i see on the dealers sites don't necessarily match the book. I learned something new which is always good. Thanks, Chuck
Uffz. Rohleder Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 My great great grandfathers medal bar. And a single mount medal
