Chris Boonzaier Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 After going through years of hanging a piece of cloth on the wall, or a zeltbahn... I have finally decided to make a solid backdrop to photograph my uniforms... just have to get the lighting right....
Mike McLellan Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Well, I think it’s time for a slide show! Mike
Claudius Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Looks great! I really like the direction you are taking. Are those boards "finished". if so, maybe refinishing them with a FLAT finish will cut down the glare. Either that, or use a diffuser on your light source.
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 15, 2020 Author Posted February 15, 2020 OK... some more playing around.... I am really the worlds worst person when it comes to doing anything with wood 8other than burning it, then i am the worlds best person).... so these was made with 2 long 2 by 4 s, some old boards screwed onto them. then leaned up against the wall... This morning I added a hat stand and a small bar to put things on (basically some of the important things the guy in the uniform would have had on top of the stuff he is wearing (although not everything, of course) I realise sanding the boards would make the reflection more "uniform"... but decided to go with the "Trenchy" look...
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 15, 2020 Author Posted February 15, 2020 Some more playing around... added a rifle/sword shelf....
BalkanCollector Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 This is awesome! I really like the trenchy look, definitely better than sanding the wood.
Mike McLellan Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Very nice. I suppose the missus would be unimpressed if you explained to her that a few dozen sandbags would achieve an even cooler trenchy look.

Bayern Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 To explain the Mrs anything about sandbags or barbed wire i looks as more dangerous than a Mills without pin in the pocket
Brian Wolfe Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Well done Chris, excellent decision to use that backdrop for your photos. Regards Brian
dond Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 I was hesitant to open this thread based on the title but am glad I did. Great display.

Brian Wolfe Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Oh, to have the sense of humour that Chris has; the title just screams the need for "smart" comments. ? Regards Brian
dond Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 He is a bit of an "attention whore." But his collection is first rate.
