    Hello SWE Eric,

Actually the yellowed areas are the remnants of what must have been a clear coat of some kind of varnish. Under normal light, this contrast is not quite so clearly defined.

Interestingly, Lt. Kobyletsky?s Alexander Nevsky has a more intact coat of this varnish, or whatever it is; but still with a couple of ?open? areas.

Wow, very impressive duplicate award! Thanks for the pictures!

Thank you Bryan. For the benefit of the novice collectors among us, like myself, I would like to offer another example.

The old song's title was "Stars Fell on Alabama", but I don't live in Alabama.

    Just in.

The Researcher will be able to buy a new car based on this research? All high-numbered, so some may turn up of interest?

    Order of Victory

Here's my Order of the Red Star that I just got from a dealer here in Canada. It's numbered 998667 on the back. I didn't show the back as I have mounted it, as I do all such pieces, on two pieces of cardboard covered with felt. The back of the bottom piece is cut out for the attachment "washer" so the the piece sets flat in my medal drawers. I don't like specimens sitting on angles and if I ever want to remove I just need to unscrew it as you would if it was on a uniform.

    Cheers

    Brian
